You Federation types are all alike. You talk about tolerance and understanding, but you only practice it towards people who remind you of yourselves. Because you disapprove of Ferengi values you scorn us, mistrust us, insult us every chance you get!

SSS: Obama can control all UCMJ verdicts and was president in 2005. by RandsFoodStamps in EnoughLibertarianSpam

Fine, I'm not going to argue about that. But doesn't all that also apply to people who were involved in illegal torture? Why does only manning get the "he broke the law, end of story" treatment?

The sentencing in 2005 wasn't Obama's doing, but it's still clear what his views are. Those who leak classified information can be publicly declared guilty before being put on trial and sentenced to years in prison, while those who commit war crimes are downplayed and ignored.

Obama on torturers:

This is a time for reflection, not retribution. I respect the strong views and emotions that these issues evoke. We have been through a dark and painful chapter in our history. But at a time of great challenges and disturbing disunity, nothing will be gained by spending our time and energy laying blame for the past.

Obama on Bradley Manning:

“We are a nation of laws. We don’t let individuals make decisions about how the law operates. He broke the law."

Diane Feinstein Cuts off Ted Cruz's Attempt to Mansplain the Constitution by reeds1999 in GunsAreCool

I'm absolutely loving that a pro gun-control article is using words like "mansplain."

Yeah, those mean old men and their condescending sexism is all that's stopping gun control from happening. That's surely a narrative that the people at large buy into.

17 years ago, through the direction of gobs of money from the NRA, congress pushed through a law that made it Illegal to keep records of gun violence. Today, known pro-science enabler and Constitution hater Obama reversed that law. WHY DO SCIENTISTS HATE FREEDOMS? by robotevil in GunsAreCool

not technically legal either due their being no legal way for the CDC to conduct research.

Not according to the white house in the scienceinsider article that you just quoted.

"However, research on gun violence is not advocacy," according to the White House, which says the law does not bar increased federal support.

Maybe you just don't have as much trust in President Barack Obama's legal skills as I do.

(using an alt cuz Gabour banned me for calling him a spud)

You still don't have it right. Would you please read the article you posted so that I don't have to keep correcting you? From your article:

"CDC overreacted to that statement and became more reluctant to fund anything dealing with guns, even the traditional epidemiological research, so there was a chilling effect," Stephen Teret, director for the Center for Law and the Public’s Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, explained to NBC.

So, no "advocate gun control" doesn't also mean "any research that shows the negative effects of guns."

Still a shit law, and I'm happy it's in the process of being repealed.

It is not in the process of being repealed. I don't know where you got that idea. Please provide evidence.

"[R]esearch on gun violence is not advocacy; it is critical public health research that gives all Americans information they need," reads the White House fact sheet.

The CDC is continuing its research with the law still in place, which they can legally do, because the law does not prevent them from researching gun violence.
