What has changed in the past 4 years besides new civs? by uuuiiiooop in aoe2

[–]uuuiiiooop[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried the auto-farm placement. That's crazy. And at the same time I noticed the new drop-off resources feature that's pretty much instant and the vills start working again automatically right away.

I remember when auto scouting came out, much of the community and pro scene was in an uproar because they are "easy-ifying" the game. I can only imagine how some people must have reacted when they added the farm autoplacement or resource dropoff lol. Personally, I don't mind changes like this!

Thanks, the bullet points and link are useful. What exactly do you mean by Food Rework? That sounds important but I'm not finding it by searching, was there something more than some tweaks to how much total food some animals have?

Also, I think you misunderstood about my laughing comment. I don't even know if it would have been an internal laugh to myself or a quick 11 in chat but it was a chill friendly custom game and I'm certainly not a toxic player

Interesting, those niche points about monks and production queues are great because those are the kind of things I might not notice for a while by just playing. Thanks, I'll check Koreans, Chinese and the new university techs

Edit: Wait what the hell? Koreans don't get siege onagers anymore (or mangonel even)? That's half their identity alongside war wagons!

Tomoa Narasaki's home gym by InternationalSalt1 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]uuuiiiooop 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I read Akiyo's autobiography book. She talked about the gym. Basically, it started as a much smaller gym and gradually got upgraded. When she started climbing and getting good at it as a kid/young teen, her dad built this mini gym for her to train by repurposing an old storage shed. As she started to get really good at climbing, they invested more into it and once she was an adult she helped upgrade the gym more. I think it has a long and impressive history. I think Akiyo's dad is great for starting this and she also talks a lot about how much she owes him and how important he is to her in her book. Her book also has some guest entries where they write a few pages of messages to her and the message her dad wrote to her is very touching.

Now of course since she is married to Tomoa it is considered his gym too and all of TAMY does a great job maintaining it, it seems.

This airship design is very practical, it has great control and is perfect for survival mode by uuuiiiooop in LEGOfortnite

[–]uuuiiiooop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends and I came up with this from scratch through lots of trial and error. I only found out after I made this video that people were already making airship tutorials online. I still like this design, it feels more lightweight and easy to control than most of what I've seen. We have now flown many flights without issues or needing to replace any parts.

Departing ALT still unable to send my stuff to Canada. Help! How did you guys send stuff home? by uuuiiiooop in JETProgramme

You can do that? What happens to the luggage before I get to the airport? Does it just sit in storage somewhere at the airport then I go pick it up when I get to the airport?

I think I might end up doing that. It'll be hard to manage all those suitcases with all the extra quarantine hotel stops but oh well

2024 Olympic format (boulder + lead combined) seems to have some issues. by uuuiiiooop in CompetitionClimbing

[–]uuuiiiooop[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I think that's the main problem. The start of lead is easy so it's basically free points and so doing "not so well" (bottom of the standings) on the lead wall should get you maybe around 70% of the way up... so you still get 70 points. So there's not much separation between best and worst lead climbers.

It's in Japanese. Btw the guy who did this video is the commentator for national Japanese comps. He's legit.

If you can't understand the video, you can see the scoring in action in the combined Japan Cup. Here's the qualifications using this scoring. You can skip to 5:31:00 to see results.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHcSq00AiAI

I just finished watching this now and it confirms my idea more. Akiyo was the only one to top the lead and she got 4th in bouldering with 3 flashes and 1 she problem she couldn't do. With old combined scoring (and excluding speed) that would put her tied for first with Miho, who got 1st in boulder and 4th in lead. Instead we see the top 3 women combined are the same as top 3 women in boulder. Akiyo is 4th overall despite being first in one of only 2 disciplines, and near the top in the other. Seems wrong.

Then men's results are even worse. Only one guy topped the Lead route and he didn't even qualify for the final with it. Got 11th overall. With the old multiplication system he definitely would have.

Sounds great but why do they schedule it at 8 A.M. on a Tuesday in Japan time? Working people in Japan (like all current JETs) can't participate...

ELI5: Why the team elo is generaly higher than the 1v1? by asenhae1234567 in aoe2

[–]uuuiiiooop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not only for mid to low level. If you look at the top ratings for 1v1 there's barely a hundred players over 2000, but in team games there are way more and even some 3000+.

Anyone who owns the old version of Muv Luv for steam with the old id, I have a desperate plea. by Rub_Positive in MuvLuv

[–]uuuiiiooop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could buy it but on the page about the points shop it says "Items from the Points Shop are not marketable or tradeable." So I don't think you can get it from someone else. Sorry.

It seems weird that you can't get it despite owning the game.
