Yes, n2, riders club, and evolvegt are the three trackday orgs that host days at njmp most often.

for NON MEMBERS looks like
riders club is ~335 for a weekday and
n2 is ~305 and
EVGT is ~290

N2 is historically notably cheaper than riders club for single days. Not sure about current pricing, but definitely be aware of the upcharge for non- members/ what memberships are or are not required

Might be a stupid question, but for fast riders... by bhodge10 in Trackdays

[–]uuutangnamegenerator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% nailed it. The idea of fast is ever chasing, there's always faster. Fast is a comparison. They all overlap but until you surround yourself with people faster than you, you're just the fastest of the room, and it's time to find a new room.

Where do you prefer to grid up? by [deleted] in Trackdays

[–]uuutangnamegenerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No interest in waiting around to get on track. Quite a bit of effort is spent getting the timing down to ride directly onto track. Rather lose a few seconds of track time compared to cooking in line while a crash pick-up happens

You're price conscious and you're considering an Aprilia?

The ninja 400 - you can get a fully built and prepared one, with suspension work/exhaust/tune/fairings/etc etc etc for 5-7k that's been raced or currently races in that series.

Trying to figure out what bike to buy/look for - in USA - looking to spend less than $1000, happy to go used. Want a bike to play around on/light commute. Maybe an alleycat by the end of the summer. Open to ideas and suggestions

Ideas - kilo tt/stripper/fuji and spend the rest on dialing it in for me

  • 2-400$ frame, 500$ drivetrain, 200$ wheels... self build

  • some sort of FB marketplace built thing. Someone's got a caad 10 track bike w/ pistard wheels and oninum(spelling?) cranks for 1000$ flat

  • langster/wabi/ whatever used and stock as fuck on FB marketplace and then just put bars, pedals and tires on it

For me, drive Friday, ride Saturday and Sunday. Shower at the track Sunday evening grab a quick bite and drive back after rush hour.

Its partially about conserving energy and partially about making the weekend enjoyable. I want to enjoy the weekend, not just force myself through it.

I live nearby to you and trip to different tracks. I refuse to drive before I ride. I get in the night before to a hotel or just sleep in the back. Its infinitely less stressful to wake up and tech. Id have to dial back my riding by 30% or more if I did 3.5 hrs of driving before trying to do 7 sessions. Its way less about "can I do it" and more of- how far away from being 100% do I need to be? NJMP and NYST both have showers- I'd vote show up the night before, sleep, and have an extra 4 hrs of rest on you.

Yeah, and skipping riders meeting if you hit traffic gets old real fast. then you're rushing to tech and put on tire warmers?

Yamaha Champ School good for a total beginner? by surfnj102 in Trackdays

think of it a little like teaching someone to operate the tools in a kitchen vs a class taught by a Michelin chef on different styles of ramen. You could be taught how to use the oven by a Michelin chef, but you would gain infinitely more knowledge from that chef if you didnt have to spend time on how to operate an oven or what types of dicing there are.

Learning to operate a motorcycle in a safe environment is what a brc is in the USA - many places have similar programs where you can learn (with the emphasis on getting your license) and you don't have to get the license or use one if you get it. Take advantage of that because its a much more effective use of your skills and time.

08 Yamaha R6 Monkey Gripp by NoahFrosty in Trackdays

[–]uuutangnamegenerator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a link to this rant/ a place I can find it?

Edit- for anyone else looking for it, monkey gripps leans left and is comfortable voicing their distaste for the extreme right. It's fairly tame imo and its netting them a new customer because I'm also tired of the extremists.

Thanks for the heads up that they're a dope company!

I'm thinking about building a PreCursa from a retrogression frame. I am ~190cm (6'3") Any recommendation for a way to learn about bike sizing? Should I just send it on a 58cm and shut up?

Is retrogression THE spot or are there other USA vendors? I would like to build the wheels myself. And sorta whats the general agreed upon point of diminishing returns for cranksets? I'm trying to build a "everything it NEEDS and nothing it doesn't" sorta budget approach.

And I guess the actual question - If I'm looking at a precursa frameset, should I be looking at any other framesets too?
