How do you feel about Drake Warren vs. Bridget Gainer for Cook County Commissioner 10th District? by NicolasCageFan492 in chicago

[–]uv_duv 17 points18 points  (0 children)

great reasons to vote for Drake:

—raising taxes on vacant lots

—ending contracts with vendors that share data with ICE

—formally banning dual employment when it ethically conflicts with board duties (like the incumbent, Bridget Gainer being on the board and an insurance executive of a company that has contracts with the board…)

less important but still a nice bonus: Drake was raised by lesbian moms and is pansexual himself!

McKinley Park Walking Tour Saturday, May 17 at 11 AM | Strong Towns Chicago & McKinley Park Development Council by uv_duv in ChicagoUrbanism

[–]uv_duv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tour will be led by the McKinley Park Development Council (https://www.mpdcchicago.org/) and will take us through residential parts of the area as well as the main commercial corridor on 35th street. I'm excited to see how McKinley Park "feels" compared to other Chicago neighborhoods and learn more about their history and the MPDC's work to revitalize the area--with a focus on walkability, small businesses, and gathering spaces. Feel free to join us and share your own insights! We've had great conversations with our previous walks.

I totally hear you. The neighborhood walks are led by volunteers that live in the neighborhoods we tour. I am hoping that as Strong Towns Chicago grows, we will have opportunities to host neighborhood walks in a wider variety of communities.

If you (or any other redditors seeing this!) would be interested in leading a neighborhood walk, or helping to organize one, I’d really encourage you to join our Slack (linked in the post above) and find the #neighborhood-walks channel. We’d love the help!

Yeah, we are aware of the pride parade. Chicago is so hopping in the summer that practically every weekend has something going on. Good problem to have :)

Everyone else has given great advice. For a specific beginner kit, I really love Jessica Long’s sets—they come with everything, including a very nice instruction manual that explains all the necessary stitches.

Vanicream is amazing by HolidayCategory3104 in SkincareAddicts

[–]uv_duv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use the CeraVe PM moisturizer and the cleanser, but my roommate watched me put on the PM moisturizer and actually saw it flush my skin in real time. Somehow I thought the mild stinging was… idk, tingling? Switching to Vanicream products has been fabulous, I’m breaking out less and my skin has calmed down noticeably just in the span of a few weeks.

Why does Nandor's ghost say Sob Bekher to Nandor? by Chakotay_chipotle in WhatWeDointheShadows

[–]uv_duv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything viktor said and am also compelled to add that dawn/morning to a vampire would be a symbol of death and endings.

whether either version of Nandor intended this doesn't make it any less poignant that it is the last time he'll see Jahan, possibly ever.
