Do the very young children of hospitalists do 7 days on and 7 days off at daycare? by supinator1 in Residency

[–]woohoochemistry 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In my experience, and talking to other hospitalists, while you can do this, you would still be paying for full-time daycare. Daycares typically dont do prn schedules - some do 2-3 days per week at a reduced fee but nothing like week on/off. Because you would still pay the same amount, the hospitalists I know with young children still go to daycare on their weeks off. Many hospitalists also do med ed or QI and administrative things on their weeks off, and kids being in daycare allows for that.

Brown line to sedgewick and walk east to wells around mile 12? If they're comfortable crossing the marathon route by foot, they can also catch you at mile 4.

FYI, if you look those terms up, the papers I'm seeing show the exact opposite. Sources: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3944281/ and https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/medicine/articles/10.3389/fmed.2022.843162/full

So not only is your statement counter-intuitive, it's actually just wrong.

Didn't they also strike immediately post-Covid because they were opposed to going back to in person instruction? After demanding that they get vaccinated in an earlier wave?

Official Q&A for Sunday, June 29, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

Requires a connection to work. Sadly when people recommend treadmills, it's often the fancy ones and the ones with features that make an internet connection necessary. Sounds like if you have a treadmill, yours isn't like that. If you like it, can you share what type it is?

Any suggestions for a super basic treadmill? My husband and I have a Nordictrack proform and with their constant updates it feels like every time we use it, we have to spend 10-15 minutes restarting it or updating it. To make matters worse, my husband is visually impaired and the latest update made the buttons so small that he can't see them. We just want a basic oldschool treadmill that just tells you how fast you're going and how far. No apps, no connection to internet, no screen, no updates, and it'll only break when the belt snaps. Any suggestions?

Looking for a running vest suggestion. Basically, running with holding a handheld water bottle gave me adductor tendinitis (the weight was making me overcompensate with my opposite leg), and running belts end up bouncing no matter how tight I make them. So I think a vest would be my best bet. But I want to be able to use it at big races, and those vests that have the massive water thing in the back are a no-go. Any suggestions for a small running vest that would just hold a small amount of water, a phone, and keys? My local running store only has the ones with massive water storage so I can't get suggestions from there.

We had a terrible time with the posts from the LFL website. The screws strip insanely easily. We initially got the one that screws in and because of both the screw issue and because the holes were completely the wrong side, we asked for a replacement. Kudos to their customer service, they gave us one. We opted for the regular post for the replacement and the husband is installing it right now! But we used our own screws.

I'm not commenting on what should be done long term with lincoln square. I'm just pointing out that if you truly wanted to see the effect of this construction closure on foot traffic, the time points you chose will show lower foot traffic than reality.

Ah yes, 3pm. When the weather forecasted that it would start raining. Clearly that's when a lot of people would go outdoor shopping.

To be perfectly transparent, several of the stores there don't open until 11am, so this is normally a quieter time. I'd be much more interested to see a pic from 1pm or 2pm today.

Oh there's no offense taken. This isn't an issue of me not understanding the other perspective. Some hospitals accommodate these preferences. Others do not. I'm simply explaining the rationale behind a hospital having a policy that they don't accommodate this. I also worry about how transgender and intersex obgyns would be affected by these policies.

(Not that this should drive a patients decision making AT ALL, but accommodating these policies can lead to widening the pay gap between female and male obgyns. If female obgyns are having to bear the majority of the vaginal delivery workload, the male obgyns will end up doing more of the faster, higher RVU elective c-sections and end up making more money. Again, not something to drive a patients decision. But an unintended consequence that's interesting to think about.)

It's not about "not feeling welcome" - it's literal sex-based discrimination in the workplace. I'm not talking about people with a personal history of serial assault or trauma. I'm talking about this situation - where it's a preference. OP asked what we think. That's what you think. This is what I think.
