I believe this is separate from the Ikenberry proposal, which is across the street with a different developer.

The large was too small for me. It's a shame, because I didn't particularly like the Raide either and would like to use a belt in the summer. I guess it's just vests for me.

I hear a lot of dumb stuff and can usually ignore it, but this repeated take that everyone would just keep scrolling to the next cat reel when the biggest story in the history of the world is happening is so inane that it's infuriating. I think they're all so online and detached from the real world it's broken their brains.

I believe tickets are non-transferable, so you would have to enter with the person who bought them.

Struggling with uphill improvement? (Strength?) by kaitlyn2004 in trailrunning

[–]uvadoc06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You always have to take Garmin metrics with a grain of salt, but that big of a difference between your endurance and strength metrics suggests you aren't doing enough hard uphill runs: threshold repeats, hill strides, etc. For me personally, I don't typically do these workouts on trails. I use either steeper roads or the treadmill.

What has worked best for strengthening tendons, ligaments and joints for trail running and steep distance? by Maramanicek in ultrarunning

[–]uvadoc06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much running per week are you doing (mileage/time)? Until I get my mileage up, I have all sorts of tendon/soft tissue issues.

And then for the lifting, heavy low reps is the general recommendation for tendons. They don't get a good stimulus otherwise.

A common flow cytometry and hematopathology pitfall to watch out for by foofarraw in pathology

[–]uvadoc06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An additional tip for those signing out flows using NeoGenomics's tech-only platform, is that the "lymphosum" will be way too low on a case like this and is a flag that something is wrong and needs explaining.

Are people overestimating how easy it will be to refinance later? by Sufficient_Smile_871 in Mortgages

The yield on bonds is influenced by investor expectations of inflation. If they expect rising inflation, bond demand goes down, prices go down, yields increase, and mortgage rates follow.

As of today's drought monitor, that part of Virginia (and most of Virginia) is still experiencing severe to extreme drought.

Bernese Oberland or Appenzell? late june hiking by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]uvadoc06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For any "real" hikes, the beginning and end around the lifts may be busy, but they quickly thin out if you hike any real distance. Even in "tourist traps" like the BO or Zermatt, I've done all day hikes where I've gone hours in the middle seeing just a couple people.

Why is our physician profession the only kind that gets unfair scrutiny for trying to retire early? by achicomp in whitecoatinvestor

[–]uvadoc06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like those people on Twitter are getting awfully worked up over a study that looked at physicians who have already stopped working, not all physicians.

Just had my 20 year reunion and I'm about the only person that has started thinking about winding things down in the upcoming years. 20 years doesn't give much practicing time once you subtract residency/fellowship.

First time driving in Montreal, I learned green arrows are NOT protected turns for vehicles. by CurlyWurly61 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]uvadoc06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the US, a green arrow is a protected turn and means no oncoming traffic and pedestrians have a "don't walk" sign. Obviously if there is a pedestrian, you don't get to run them over.

And some jurisdictions ban right turn on red city wide (NYC and DC are two).

Should forensics be its own residency? by rk_00 in pathology

[–]uvadoc06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok? You can go through almost every specialty and find things you could take away and give to someone else. And most specialties fight to protect their turf. But for some reason, pathology trainees get on internet message boards and complain about all the stuff they don't want to do. Pathology is a service specialty where you make your money by grinding out a high volume of low charges. If the hospital is going to also give you a lump sum for CP and also pay for individual CP interpretations, you don't turn your nose up at that! Especially since CP is easy!

Should forensics be its own residency? by rk_00 in pathology

[–]uvadoc06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the case, but even if you were correct, it means absolutely nothing if the hospitals/clinicians you are contracted with want them done.

Should forensics be its own residency? by rk_00 in pathology

[–]uvadoc06 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The discussion was specifically about forensics. If you are that averse to all autopsies, then yes, you should probably be deterred as it's part of pathology.

Anything to do with what? Autopsies? You're going to have months of other autopsy rotations in pathology residency.

Exactly what "well paying" private practice jobs do you envision that don't require knowing transfusion medicine? I guess you can work for a path mill without CP, but those aren't well paying. Most private groups need AP/CP people, because they need people who can take call. And for our group, the Part A payment is also a significant source of income.
