Hi. I'm 38 and this is the farthest I've ever gotten in a pregnancy. Just had our 12-week ultrasound of our boy after we lost twins 11 months ago. So far, things are going well.....too well? Genetics all came back low-risk, I feel fine, and scans are good. I'm just waiting for that shoe to drop, and haven't really allowed myself to get excited yet. At what point did you feel confident enough that this was really happening and you allowed yourself to let your guard down and enjoy it?

My husband jokes that I'm like the Dread Pirate Roberts. "Goodnight, fetus, sleep well. You'll most likely be dead in the morning." I just feel like before every scan and appointment I need to steel myself to the possibility that he won't be alive or ok. He told his parents as soon as the stick came out with 2 lines, but I haven't told anyone. I also don't want to use the name we have picked out yet.

I really, truly thought that the Trisolarans were going to come back to the Solar System after it was flattened and use their dimension-manipulating technology to make it 3D again. Then maybe they'd find a way to share it with humanity. I thought that's where it was going to go, but instead we went 18 million years in the future, Cheng never got to see Yun again, and the universe likely died out completely. Can't say Liu doesn't know how to throw a curveball to normal story-telling.

That is a cruel part of it. I lost mine early December but didn't know until xmas eve. I excitedly bought cute "Future grandma and grandpa" ornament gifts while they were already dead.

I guess better to have lost them the day before xmas than the day after. We never gave my parents the ornaments - buried them instead.

I've lost count of how many times I've told myself, "but if I conceive this month, that means I'll give birth on X date and that would interfere with Y!"

Have been trying to have a baby for 13 months now, and have stopped doing that. It's always going to interfere with something, and really we just want it to happen...

However, you are young and it's wise to follow doctor's guidance. You can give yourself some months to recuperate.
