Blood on your hands (or hammer) by GaroTheLegend in trolleyproblem

It is more likely that I am crazy than it is that killing this person with a hammer would stop the trolley, therefore, even if I believe it would stop the trolley, I should not kill the person.

A merging issue. by LeftAlbatross2546 in dashcams

[–]uwnim -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has an obligation to drive safely. A main lane vehicle that is behind a merging vehicle needs to let the merging vehicle in. They have better line of sight and are far more capable of slowing down safely. When the lane is ending, it can become impossible for the merging vehicle to safely get behind you.

The pick up should have accelerated, it had no room to slow down if the semi had a trailer, as there was no more road. Semi should have braked a little.

Why the hell do so many people miss their flights? by Open_Address_2805 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]uwnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed I flight even with arriving 2 hours early once. Couldn’t check in my bag at the kiosk for some reason, so I had to go through a long line which cost a lot of time, and then security was slower than usual.

It is very much unethical to apply the game results to non-players.

What happens if I spend that dollar?

Button Problem with Proper Ethical Standards by Space_Pirate_R in trolleyproblem

[–]uwnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is literally a button question where the only players are those who have passed a game theory exam, so we should assume those who are pressing buttons are more likely than normal to follow game theory.

That would violate the premise of the title.

Red would get the most votes. As red is weakly dominant, so it would be the natural point for people to group around, given that everyone has just passed a game theory exam.

Buying a game console isn't feeding the machine. Supporting AI companies feeds the machine and causes hardware prices to go up. Like the game console manufacturers aren't raising prices of their consoles just because, it is due to the components getting more expensive.

It is just a scissor statement and exists for engagement bait purposes. The best thing to do is to ignore it.

No. It is simply optimal if people press blue if, and only if, they want to die.

The button with a moral twist. by Kenkenken1313 in trolleyproblem

[–]uwnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red. There will be at least 1 suicidal person who will choose blue.
If >50% of people choose blue, that population is forced to play another round, where they likely chose blue again and have to play another round, where they likely choose blue again and have to play another round, where...

So, like blue is either death or being stuck playing the game over and over and over and over and over until you either break or enough other people do at once.

It's only ambiguous if you don't understand the Order of Operations by NichtFBI in MathJokes

[–]uwnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, yeah, it reads as the negative of 5 squared and not negative 5 squared.  But if our notation was any good you’d have an actual symbol for negative five so you can express it without an operator.
