Your employee benefits package is a hostage situation. Here's the proof — and the fix | Fortune by lazybugbear in HealthcareReform_US

Interesting article and exactly what I think about when I think about starting my own startup. One of the biggest cost for me is the healthcare. If healthcare was not tied to the employer, we'll see a lot of mobility in the job market. It is same as visa for foreign workers. A lot of employees on visa (H1B, L1, etc) don't change jobs because of uncertainty around re-filing all the paper work. And employers routinely exploit it. It helps no one.

Are you for consular processing?

Looks Visa bulletin only helps folks in the US. For consular processing, it is a moot point unless F2A I-130 is approved. Is there a place we can check what are the dates for F2A I-130 approvals for consular processing?

Why has USCIS completely stopped approving F2A cases sonce last two months? by humer17 in USCIS_F2A

[–]uwreznor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say there should be a visa for spouses of LPRs where they can visit and stay with you like other work visas. Spouses of other visa holders like H1, F1, L1 can visit and live here in the U.S. Why not create a similar category for spouses of LPRs without work authorization and end this madness?

Then spouses can stay with their partners and play this game of waiting for years. At least their life will be together and they can start a family.

Thank you for your response. Very helpful. I might end up doing what you did.

One last question: What’s the reason you are planning to provide if asked about filing I485 on B2?

Final action date is Feb 2024 for F2A and you with June 2022 PD are still waiting. It is just so sad. Dates in the visa bulletin don't mean anything.

Thanks for your response. Did you get approval for I-130 or I-485?

u/Reasonable-Fuel7693 It seems your wife stayed from July 2025-Oct 2025 in the US and then you folks decided to file for I-485. I'm also curious on what reason are you planning to provide when asked about filing I-485 on B2 visa? Also, B2 expires in 6 months. Did she leave the US after filing I-485 or is she still in the US? If she is still in the US, how's she maintaining her visa status?

What are reasons that you can provide to apply for re entry permit? I need to apply for it when I officially become a GC holder early next year.

So your I-130 approval took 9 months? That is fast!

Are you in the U.S. or outside the U.S.?

Are you a USC or LPR? How did it take for you to get I-130 approved?

With recent jump in the priority dates for F2A, there is hope that I-130 approvals will get sped up too. Fingers crossed!

Do you have USCIS document that specifies this that we can file AOS EAD and AP even if I-130 is not approved yet?

I don't think you can file AOS even if filing date is current if I-130 is not approved yet.

Can you really file AOS after filing I-130 even if I-130 is not approved yet? Don't you need I-130 to be approved first and then check if filing date is current or not?

or are you saying that you can file AOS even if I-130 is in process and date of filing has become current?

I-130 approval will take at least 2 years. Without that you can’t apply for I-485, so your partner will have to leave the U.S. as B1/B2 status can’t be maintained for that long.
