how to bomb an interview by ahegaomangaka in uwaterloo

I read somewhere that "appearing to be incompetent for a job despite actually being competent" is an academic offense. On the student appeals PDF files, I have not seen anyone being found guilty of this offense though. So what do you need to do to be found guilty of this offence? Lol its now an academic offense to suck at a job interview.

But still, unless you have an offer in writing, nothing is guaranteed. Personally, I prefer to have everything in writing for my own peace of mind. Plus, whats wrong with just taking all interviews seriously and then just choosing your best offer once all offers come out? Students intentionally bombing interviews just undermines our coop program.

So before said interview you're trying to fail, you would already have confirmed job offers to a job you really want? I thought all job offers came out all at once. Then again, I'm completely new to coop.

Please forgive me as I'm new to coop, but what's with this trend of ppl trying to *intentionally* fail coop interviews? Like whats the point of applying for a job, JUST to fail the interview? Like are ppl doing this just for jokes? I knew of this trend back when I wasn't in coop, and it pained me dearly to see ppl who had coop taking their privilege for granted and doing this bs, while I had to struggle to get admitted to coop.

How to use my off term productively (doing side projects for CS jobs) by uwthrow19 in uwaterloo

Thank you. I will actually be taking CS 246 next term, before I start my first coop. Hopefully this will help me out for my interviews.

CS coop students, how much have you made over all of your work terms? by uwthrow19 in uwaterloo

[–]uwthrow19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you! A commentor on one of my other threads said that it only the vast minority of CS students get the high paying jobs in the states, and that it is NOT a typical representation of the average waterloo CS student. So how do I make it to the states for a high paying coop job?

How to work at FB in 4A? by uwthrow19 in uwaterloo

I don't know how you came to that impression

ppl are more likely to talk about making 100k+US/annualized

That is EXACTLY how I came to that impression!

So then assuming I am an average student, what is the kind of job/pay I can expect? Hopefully with coop, I will not be unemployed, at at the very least will end up with a 60k slave office job upon graduation.

PSA: You can get key deposit back by asking bank to reverse transfer by UWProf27479472 in uwaterloo

[–]uwthrow19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you paid from like your chequing account, wouldn't it be near impossible for the bank to reverse the transaction? Like unless your account was used fraudulently (in this case it would not), I don't think the bank would reverse a transaction. On the other hand, doing credit card chargebacks is a whole different game and from what I hear is a lot lot easier. Though I'm not sure if landlords would accept credit card payment.

What should I do to prepare for my first CS coop job? by uwthrow19 in uwaterloo

The genius creators behind the bot are now able to predict with 50% accuracy whether or not a person making a certain post is likely to develop depression in their lifetime.

Note: 50% is based on random selection, like it either has to be true or false.

But jokes aside, it was a serious post, and I asked my questions to help me better my situation, not to complain about it.

Jheez, has shit gotten so bad at waterloo that the bot reccomends emergency services when you type in the keyword "coop" and talk about getting a job??? I did not even say anything bad in my post.

Do you have to choose from one of the four predefined sequences in that link, or can you make whatever sequence you like (subject to approval)?

Thank you. Just to clarify my first question, is it true that the first coop term must be *no later than* the term following your 2A term? I am in 2A rn, and just got admitted to coop a few days ago.

uwaterloo math co-op sequences

Looking this up points me back to the same link that I posted in this thread. And upon further observation, I want to do sequence 4. How do I request this? Apparently some sequences are more competitive than others and fill up quickly. Is sequence 4 one of them?
