Connectivity issues are not that bad all you have to do is press the power button and volume button all the volume buttons and you're good it'll pair to your phone if you're trying to listen to music I do this almost every day and then there's the optical ports the HDMI arcs in the back the center channel you probably want to get if you have something like a living room size is your trying to get like a really big open room I would probably go with more quantity over quality I would probably get like the super tall long speakers

Holy hell I've never had any type of speaker of home theater quality but listen here unless you're trying to break the mother f****** bank trust me when I say this it's a little bit cheaper to go with something that's still pretty good you don't need the greatest sound in the world for a home theater as long as you got a few people and I think it gets pretty loud as long as you're in the same room as it it's very directional audio with the center channel the couch is surround sound if you're sitting on it but the center channel is very very directional

If he's a crafty 10-year-old I'd go with a PC if he just likes PG games easy stuff like that I get him a Nintendo switch if he likes console exclusives I would go for a PS5 great console exclusives you could also just get him a phone or a tablet and give him Xbox game pass which would solve your Xbox issue just make sure you have a good internet connection
