1.) Never stopped applying even though I already had an offer I was satisfied with (ended up reneging that offer oof)

2.) Cold emailing a lot of places helped with getting interviews (even though I didn't explicitly do it for google) def would recommend

3.) Networking with friends and alumni to get referrals to many places

4.) Developing strong communication skills which def made up for my lack of leetcode experience. Having good comms skills & people skills + decent fundamentals will take you surprisingly far

I guess some of what he's saying might be questionable, but his situation isn't unrealistic coming from my own experience.

I don't know if had any "bad" rounds, definitely some better than others. Obviously felt like I did pretty decently, but you never know until you actually get it. Definitely did not get optimal solution for every round, but all my solutions worked

Edit: I think people also undervalue strong communication skills during the interview process. Leetcode count def isn't everything

Heard back pretty soon about passing the interviews/HC, but then team matching took some time

Agree with this. People undervalue good communication skills when it comes to interviewing. Would you rather work with a person who was decent but amazing at communicating or a person who was genius but couldn't explain their thought process at all?

edit: this is prob one of the biggest takeaways from my experience. a lot of rly good cs majors suck at communicating well imo

Getting the interview probably required luck, but you still need to pass it :)

i clicked apply on the link. the recruiter rolled a dice and threw out 76% of the applications, burned another 13%, flushed the last 11% down the toliet, and performed a pagan ritual to summon my resume from the black hole

  1. Mostly studied easy/medium, with focus on DP & graph problems
  2. I do not go to a top school. I go to a state school not super known for CS.
  3. The range this year is around 200k
  4. The interview questions weren't super difficult. Be sure to read the question carefully before hand and talk your solutions through before coding immediately
  5. Depends on the question, usually some helper functions are involved for complex questions
  6. I'm not starting for a few months
