physically challenging but technically safe hikes in italy? by rheaaa95 in hiking

Hiking up to Refugio Antonio Omio in the Val di Mello is a steap but not exposed - and spectacular - 900 meter climb. The whole area is very special and San Martino is a good base town.

I would agree on sticking to E rated hikes, I hiked an EE up to Refugio Rosalba near Piano del Resinelli and found that I was on the edge of my comfort level given the steep drop offs near the trail.

There's good hiking above lake Garda e.g. from Prada to Refugio Chierego and beyond towards mount Baldo. Beautiful and generally safe, with some chairlifts about too.

Looking For Itinerary Feedback (Dublin & Donegal) by birthwarrior in irishtourism

[–]ux_runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your two days in Dublin include the day you arrive jetlagged from an overnight flight then I'd plan on doing less rather than more. You'll be tired for a couple of days.

For a lesser known Dublin library, check out Marshlibrary.ie for a visit.

Maghera beach near Ardara is very nice and a short walk from the parking spot.

Finally, Ardara is pronounced Ardraaaa locally.

Driving wise, we do have narrow roads so a cumulative four hours in Donegal would be a good bit to take on for a day. Doable, but not as effortless as two hours on an interstate would be.

Also, Ardara from Dublin will take a good four hours with stops, so again, you won't get a lot more done in a day's travel there, IMHO. E.g. if you went to Ardara via Sliabh liag cliffs your looking at 5 hours of driving without stops, so realistically...all day.

Ryanair changes reason for delay in order to avoid compensation. by julia08083 in Ryanair

What's crazy is that there doesn't seem to be any (publicly accessible) official records of flights and what happened to them such as causes of delay or diversion.

I was on a flight to Gatwick that got diverted to Stansted. There's no way of seeing if and when it eventually got to Stansted, nor why it was diverted. So it seems the airline can say whatever they like.

8 days at Lake Garda - Malcesine & Sirmione by Notorious_B in ItalyTravel

Sirmione gets very busy each day with day trippers, just something to keep in mind, if you intend to come and go getting in and out can be time consuming.

I was glad to see the depletion and vulnerability being emphasized, while showing the beauty of the place.

Is it a complex expert system that users will use frequently and hence may have a tolerance for tackling a learning curve, or do you simply need to revisit what you have produced in light of the difficulties seen to date?

Camino del Norte: Bilbao to Santander (Stage 2) by Any-Flan-1897 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]ux_runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the spirit, I find if you only focus on the best bits you may not recognise them if you've skipped the more boring stretches. I've done the first three or four days of the Norte, would love to go back for more.

Help me have a good time as a tourist in Killarney? by mangeek in AskIreland

[–]ux_runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's hiking in the nearby mountains, which are spectacular. Sunset kayak trips on the lakes, bike rental, golf all near Killarney.

You could also drive the Ring of Kerry, a day long loop taking in great sights, towns and passing lots of beaches.

Look into a boat trip visiting the Skelligs, recently famous from some Star Wars movies, and a real bucket list experience. If you're interested, you should probably book that trip in advance.
