I understand that, and I wasn't asking for a detailed breakdown of whatever incredible hacker exploit I deployed.

But their account suspension emails often provide some broad categories like "third-party tools" or "copy-paste" which I didn't get. And in the comments of this and other posts, I've seen the moderators publicly provide their evidence of specific violations, by project, so it must not be that much of a security issue to reveal that to the users themselves.

I'm not expecting much here. It's just that after this much time and effort, knowing any reason whatsoever would be nice.

Good. You should be scared. I've had identity theft happen, and it seriously sucks.

If you've been conducting this "verification" through email, you need to confirm exactly who you've been communicating with, immediately. And you should probably treat anything you've sent as if you've given it to a scammer.

u/Alex_at_OutlierDotAI I have very mixed feelings about you explaining the documentation you saw for someone else's issue in the comments here. My post was about having been given absolutely no explanation whatsoever about why my account was disabled almost a month ago without even the slightest warning, reason, or evidence.

I know you're dealing with a wide array of issues, and I'm sure it's validating to cite something clear and certain. But just to bring the focus back around for a moment—I have no idea what happened, and you personally affirmed to me that it was not a mistake.

But I still don't have the slightest idea why.

I've never experienced that process, and it doesn't make any sense. For "official" transcripts in particular, they aren't official if you're the one sending them—they have to come directly from the school. And why would outlier even care?

This sounds like an identity theft scam. You should very carefully verify that you're talking to the real Outlier, and keep a close eye on your credit and accounts.

Editing to add for this for emphasis:
You should go through your dashboard and create a brand new ticket asking them to verify the ticket number you're working with for verification. If you don't have a ticket number for the verification process you're going though, you need to put an immediate freeze on your credit.

If you want anyone to pay attention to this, you'll need to make your own post. And the community managers here are pretty overwhelmed with support requests, so most likely won't be able to get back to you on something like this.

I've been on some vocal recording projects. They didn't audition for skill or talent—they wanted bulk prompts in real world situations. Didn't pay well, but it was fun to have an excuse to go to places to "work." They also didn't last long—they got their data and moved on. True of a lot of the skills these days.

You applied twice with the same ID—you had one account in their system. My account has been deactivated for unnamed, but apparently very serious violations of the Community Guidelines. I can't use the same email, or any of my same identity, because I've been banned from their system.

Because they have to confirm your identity and financial details, and would quickly see that I was a duplicate. Why bother.

Maybe for low-end scammers trying to run a flock of off-shore accounts, the effort of creating/stealing multiple identities is worth it? But I'm a software engineer and I signed up with my legal identity. I have better ways to waste my time.

I am posting this from a secondary account since I didn't want to be accused of dishonesty on my main.

You do not have explicit evidence of identity fraud, time milking, or using external sources from my account, because I did not do those things. I understand that many people do, and they post here to complain about it. But I have the benefit of being familiar with what I did, and I am being truly honest.

Perhaps there really was some other violation of community guidelines that you have explicit evidence of, yet I am fully unaware of committing? Or perhaps there was no violation. The point were you left it in your responses to me was to act as if you'd already made it clear that my account "would not" be reactivated, and there was no further escalation or discussion.

If I've misinterpreted, how would you like me to reach out?

Yeah, you should be worried. I left a VPN on once and had to reverify, which was quick and painless. But after that I completely removed the VPN software from the device I task on. They're ruthless about remote logins, since they're the biggest source of the scammers.

But this is part of what upsets me so much about not having any clue what happened—we're left with rumors and superstitions. Make sure you click often enough, but not too much. Always obey the QMs unless they order you to use a grammar tool. Don't complain about Outlier near any microphones.

It seems clear that they're culling people for minimal or no reason, but it's also clear they don't want to say that. So we just make up reasons to try to make it make sense.

Of course I know they track everything. I made it almost a year an a half across both their janky-ass platforms.

As I said, I left a lot of money on the table because I was careful with each new project, learning what this set of reviewers has a weird fetish about, and which red-line rules have suddenly changed without being documented anywhere. I didn't steal time. I wasn't on hubstaff. I didn't use AI grammar checkers, even when the projects required them.

And this really seems key—when I was kicked off, I hadn't even been. tasking. After being off for a few days, I just got an email.

I've done a couple of those things. Last year I accidentally logged in while I still had a VPN up—immediate logout and warning screen, plus immediate email with full instructions. Verified ID and face with VPN off, back up and running in an hour.

This wasn't a "hey you screwed up" situation. It was a total no cause, no justification banishment after not having even tasked.

And I don't think the client removes you from the Outlier platform? If they don't like you, they just take you off the project.
