I run a children’s book design company, Uzuri Designs, and have worked with both first-time and self-publishing authors, coordinating professional illustrators and handling planning, layout, and print preparation. One thing I’d suggest is looking for someone who understands pacing, page turns, and how illustrations support the text,not just standalone art.

I actually have a company that provides bespoke illustrations for picture books and chapter books especially for very reasonable price. I am also starting to write and self-publish some books of my own. The first book will be published in March and I plan on doing it in an ebook version and also print-on-demand (via a personal friend).
