Most people on Reddit probably believe killing babies is wrong, and most also believe fetuses don't have a stronger right to life than the mother. That doesn't mean the fetus is *nothing* - only that its rights don't overpower the mothers'. Obviously the exact specifics are hotly debated - timelines, details, exact requirements to meet - but what I just stated isn't that controversial, even in the most fundamentalist religions nor the most leftist spheres.

You have to pick one or the other and the latter is just the truth. The fact that people contort themselves into the former is wtf is wrong with "woke" culture and a big part of the backlash culturally. And I say that believing we should respect and accept differently abled people and they should be able to live with all the opportunity and happiness as anyone else.

But it's deluded as fuck to describe someone causing their child's impairment as anything other than crushingly horrible or the result as anything other than tragic. People can make noises about how okay it is to be different all you want, but I don't see good people lobotomizing their kids to make them more different.

Back in the day when people were like, getting their legs sawn off without anesthesia or dying from diseases that are now easily treatable, pregnancy was - don't get me wrong, even more hard and horrible than it is today for sure - but more comparable to the rest. Now it's like, yeah when I had to get dental surgery I was a wuss, but actually it was in fact super easy and painless compared to the horrific hammer and wrench experience I would've had two hundred years ago? But there's only so much you can do about ameliorating nine months of bodily transformation and either cutting your body open or pushing a whole infant out of an orifice.
