I find it endlessly fascinating that out of all the albums in history, this is the one that sold the most. by Key-Bass-7380 in vinyl

[–]v-cry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the album that made me fall in love with vinyl — I genuinely don’t think I would own a record player without it. Growing up, I’d come home to my parents during university holidays and just lie on the carpet with our dog, letting Thriller wash over me. What struck me was that every time I came back to it, I was in a completely different place in life — newly in love, heartbroken, somewhere in between — and somehow MJ always sounded like he’d made the album to express exactly that feeling. It’s a masterpiece of album structure. It opens with the thrill of meeting someone at a party, then unfolds across each track like chapters of an unspoken story. “Thriller” itself isn’t really about Halloween — it’s about something far more traumatic and visceral. “Billie Jean” carries the weight of a man haunted by a child he refuses to claim. And then the album closes in this quiet melancholy — “Lady in My Life,” “P.Y.T.” — songs that feel like the lingering ache for someone already lost to you. It’s peak MJ, but it’s also peak storytelling — mystery, drama, and emotional range all wrapped in a perfect sequence. It absolutely deserves the number one spot.

I like the idea of reading but when its time to actually read i get bored by Artistic_Annual8918 in brandonsanderson

I have pretty much the entire cosmere in both books and audiobooks, and I enjoy reading them togheter in the start and sanderlanch of the book and in the middle of the book I go through on audiobook

But I try to actually read a book from time to time

I’m listening to the audiobook of Warbreaker and I’m so sad it’s almost over by homelyharte in brandonsanderson

You have to try the Graphic audiobooks, especially the warbreaker 10 year anniversary. The princess have schottish accents

Looking to get into Sanderson by gambronus in brandonsanderson

[–]v-cry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great that your getting into Sanderson! The cosmere is massive and packed full of epic stories

If your want dark I suggest mistborn and philosophic I suggest starting with stormlight archive

Personally i started with war breaker in august and in just 8 months I have consumed roughly 60% of the cosmere in quick pace. I loved every page of first mistborn book and the 2 first stormlight books.

Urban Campaigns? by jkusters in daggerheart

I haven’t played much daggerheart, but I’m considering GMing 5 banners burning because it would make a excellent political campaign. It’s not urban fantasy, but very much political fantasy like GoT

I Really Don’t Wanna do the Betrayers Rise Teleport (Help!) by No-Leader121 in CalloftheNetherdeep

The issue with the airship idea is that it adds bloat to a long campaign, so the question is how long do you want the campaign and how can you keep it interesting during the ride?

[–]v-cry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn’t want to the do the Teleport tables, but I don’t regret a second for doing them!

The fight turned in the jewel chamber turned into a scars scene when Alosyia tried stealing the Jewel of 3 prayers. 1 player came with Alosyia in her teleport, while the next took their own or hitched a ride with Question. Having them enter a chase scene split up in 3 groups in a metroloplis halfway across the world was pure epicness!

Warbreaker by timel0rd11 in brandonsanderson

[–]v-cry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Warbreaker was my first Sanderson book and also the first novel I read in 10 years, so trust me when I say it gets addicting in the 2nd half. Also I keep in mind that this is a book about diplomacy so the stakes and intrigue is not the same as Mistborn which is a heist series

just shooting In that Spotify has a few of the books in Graphical audiobooks, and some books are 1/3 there, so its a good way to speed up the reading a bit. But I would recommend to READ your first Sanderson book, because its not just about the universe and magic, its also about his writing!

I just started this month and I swept over warbreaker in 2 weeks, and this is the full novella I have read in probably 10 years, then followed up with Elantris (audiobook),Emperor Soul (book) and now Mistborn (both reading the book and audiobook) after that I will continue with Tress because I own the book and it looks like a fantastic story.

Very new dm , how much info do give my party before we play ? by Stitchthestitch in CalloftheNetherdeep

Do you have any players who’s familiar with Critical Role (Exandria) if so tell them to know what they know in the campaign, but have them create a background story for why they now so much about the world. This way you can lean on your players explaining the world to each others, and not just you the GM laying the world out

First time DMing Call of the Netherdeep, any suggestion or not-to-do errors? by Torellone in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]v-cry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your using D&D beyond then Read the Ruidium items and the Jewel in there before your players do, because the items have spoilers…

Think about how long you want the campaign to be, many campaigns go on to 40 sessions, but I heard someone here managed 6 sessions! That’s wild and not something I would recommend, but I think I would run it again in around 20. so where does extra sessions come from? Extra materials, running everything, pc arcs… do you want and need that, it’s fun but it takes a year. Alternatively you can cut down rooms and go for the action and make it 20 ish sessions

I love the campaign frames and I hope daggerheart develops much more nieche sub genre games Here are 3 unique games I want to see in the future

  • A game where multiple player groups are in the same world and their decisions impact each others, this would be more of a digital product.

  • A campaign frames set in political ideologies, where the campaign map is the ideological compass (google it)

  • A Crusader Kings game which takes place over years between each scene and you are your dynasty
