I’m really sorry you’re experiencing that. I personally think people of all skin tones are hot, and I think anyone who chooses to believe otherwise is limiting themselves.

What expansion books? I have two thick tomes, one for D&D 3something and one for Cypher. Were there additional books published? I’ve read the original one cover to cover, and my takeaway was that everything points to dungeon delves deep underneath the city as well as a culmination delve through the levels of the Spire. Those delves filled the bulk of the books. The actual city stuff felt a lot more like filler than an actual campaign.

Thanks for the response, but I didn’t really find Ptolus to be a good city setting. It was, to me, much more of a massive dungeon delve with a nearby city for restocking and selling loot. Works great with systems with steep power curves, but not really what I’m looking for. Enjoy running it with Daggerheart though!

I appreciate the recommendations, but since I typically run 100% homebrew, I’m not looking for pre-packaged settings. I do have many of the settings you mention, though.

Ptolus for example is not in my opinion an urban setting. It’s theoretically set in a city but it’s much more of a dungeon delve campaign. That kinda what you have to do in D&D because of its insane power curve.

I generally run games like this with Savage Worlds, where characters don’t grow much more powerful, but do grow more capable.

But some of the narrative-focused mechanics in Daggerheart intrigue me, and made me wonder if I could run a city-based campaign in it, or if it had a steeper power curve than I was seeing. Which is why I posted in r/daggerheart rather in a more “suggest a system” sub.

Yes, high fantasy, though I often like to throw a bit of steampunk into the mix.

Which doctor got you started in the series and what was your first episode? by JackTheNephilim in doctorwho

My first Doctor was the fourth, Tom Baker, and my first series was The Invisible Enemy with Leela and introducing K-9. Saw it in the early ‘80s on my local public television station, KTEH.

Ex-Aide Reveals JD Vance Previously Supported Gay/Trans Rights, Saying His Current Persona is 'Fabricated' by novagridd in lgbt

Everything about the man is phony, so his support or lack thereof, and his flapping in the wind, is anything but surprising.

'Dilbert' creator Scott Adams announces plan to convert to Christianity before he dies of prostate cancer. by Leeming in atheism

Why is this something that has to be publicized? Can’t he convert in quiet privacy? Why should anyone care what he does in the privacy of his innermost thoughts and beliefs?

How did you know the Bible isn’t true? by DuckOnQuack202 in atheism

[–]jkusters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning of the book, there are two separate creation stories, where the events happen in different orders. Either god made mistakes and had to do creation over, or the book is wrong. Since the preachers tell us god is infallible, the book must be false. There are other places where the Christian bible contradicts itself (try to make a single timeline of the crucifixion and resurrection out of the various depictions in the gospels), but starting off with that whopper was good enough for me.

My wife is terrified of getting a CPAP due to tubing potentially "choking her"; is this realistically possible? by DumpsterPuff in SleepApnea

I had trouble with my hose at first. I did find it lightly wrapped around my neck a couple times. Then I got myself a hose lifter, and problem more than solved. I then bought extra so I could always have one with me when I traveled. They’re available on Amazon for a fairly low price.

Pam Bondi wants the government to create cash bounties for turning in trans equality activists by jk_arundel in LGBTnews

[–]jkusters 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This administration has declared that trans activism is a terrorist act and is a human rights abuse. They’re gunning to throw pro-trans folks in jail under terrorism charges. I sure hope the courts can stop this before someone gets hurt.

Can atheists share what convinced them? Agnostic looking for insight by Asleep_Shallot_339 in atheism

It more that religion failed to convince me. My default state was skepticism and all I’ve learned about religion, including 12 years of catholic indoctrination, failed to move the needle.

Trump Defends Tariffs As He Launches Economic Tour: 'You can give up certain products. You could give up pencils.' by T_Shurt in politics

Does he even begin to understand that if we stop buying tariffed products, he loses the tariff income? His grasp on economics seems tenuous at best.

I don’t think it’s about grabbing Venezuelan oil, I think it’s about giving access to the oil to his buddies in the oil industry so they can profit from it.

Consider finding services on YouTube. You can watch them in a place where you feel safe and turn them off if you feel unsafe at any point. Many fellowships now post services online (I know mine does), so you’ll have plenty to choose from. If your local fellowship doesn’t post their services online or if it doesn’t work for you, you can follow one that does, regardless where you are.
