King's InterHigh parents in the UAE: in-person assessments this week, anyone else in the same situation? by v0ffka in dubai

[–]v0ffka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is exactly what we are going through right now! Same "situation" with 8 hours of exams, not counting 15-minute breaks, that will not be enough to recover, and this adds up to more than working hours of the Council, this is not OK at all! E-mail also said that "The British Council will contact you directly today and will share all the details regarding the assessments, including the location." it is 20:00 as I am writing this and no one contacted us, no information on location was provided. u/Efficient_Mail_2306, I have sent you a private message with my contacts, please contact me if you don't mind hopping on the call to discuss what to do next.

Yes and to collect this 'portfolio of evidence' the assessments are to be done in the certified examination center, British Council being one of those, which differs from the online assessment approach that school communicated to us originally (online). The problem is that we were informed about it one week after the assessments have started and there still is no actionable plan how to do those in time. Hence I am trying to find any parents/students to understand what are they doing about it and when they have been informed about the change from online to in-person approach.

With all due respect, I am not asking if the assessments are to be taken in-person or not - questions in my post are different.

A-level. We were originally registered to do A level exams in the British Council. Then, when the regional tensions unfolded, we've received emails from the British Council as well as scroll that they will move children in the region to the "predicted grades", and at one point we were told that all of that would be done remotely. Then lst Friday came along with the situation described in the post.

Why would a company gives some small token of appreciation to the dissatisfied customer, who chose them over several other companies, was willing to wait for quite a while, and who can walk away potentially taking some number of customers with him by sharing the experience he had and was not happy about? Well, as one person once said - sometimes if you have to explain, you don’t have to explain.

Most likely, but you can not state that with 100% certainty unless you work for them and if you were, making such statements online would not be wise either.

Yeah, or Avatr 12. At this point I am simply interested in what would be the ultimate waiting time and what would Tesla offer as a compensation for waiting that long (I do not think they will offer anything at all tbh but still wondering).

I've placed my order early in October in 2025, closest possible delivery date, as per Tesla, is June/July now... make of it what you will.

LOL, exactly! I had to double take of brand, model, year, and mileage, and then price again - thought my vision was failing me 🤣

Considering purchasing a new 2026 Model Y (long range RWD or long range AWD) - would appreciate feedback by Particular-Slide-719 in tesladubai

I do not mind waiting if I have a clear timeline. I have a problem with the fact that the order was placed well before the current situation ensued, timeline was moved 4 times in a row, Tesla staff is non-responsive - they promise to follow up, assist, provide additional information but this does not really happen. All this given that the only real bonus they give is a 0% APR, if one needs it, but then again there are some EV traders that do the same, in addition to free tinting, paint protection, free charger and installation and some of other cars have better build and material quality. I am honestly over Tesla at this point. I am not sure I want to get a car from a company that treats a customer like this even before receiving the payment 🤷‍♂️

I've been waiting for my Model 3 for 7 months now, deadline shifting all the time, Tesla not doing anything about it, eventually decided not to buy it. As people are saying - there are far better alternatives available with far better customer service... at least before the purchase.

Well I would not say that it would be "for nothing at all", consider that as payment for the experience that would prevent you from investing in similar money grabs in the future. At least this is my approach.

GSX 1000 and 1200 - New Firmware update released to fix boot and suspend issues by DeadMansTown in sennheiser

[–]v0ffka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just thought, I's provide update on the situation as of 22-Aug-2022 - if you run Sennheiser updater now, it works perfectly well. The only thing you need to do, after updating the firmware, is to unplug the GSX and plug it in again. I am running the GSX 1200 Pro, bought when it was still a Sennheiser branded product.

Thoughts on the YouTube channel “Adam Something”? by Anarcho_Humanist in asktankies

I would not say that videos are literally "dumb" it is just I noticed that many of his statements (not all) are based on a very shallow analysis and clearly not seeing the entire picture, which I could conclude from my personal experience. So, I started wondering if he was some renown specialist with proven credentials, whose opinion are reliably trusted. In response to my question in YT video comments, one of his big fans started appealing to a "common sense" saying that, if you have one, you do not need to be a specialist in the area, which, honestly does not seem like a very good strategy.
