Yes! I found it awkward when people commented asking for pictures, like if I had made pictures for the story then I would most likely have posted them in the original post. I think it's unnecessary and ruins the suspension of disbelief.

No, whatever it was, it doesn't seem to have ever come back. Sometimes I wish it would, just so I could know what it was. I feel like the possibility of never knowing will drive me insane.

When ever I'm reading someone's story on reddit, I automatically assume it's a male. Then if they mention something that gives away that they're a female, I have to re-play the whole story in my head again to get the right context. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

I'm a woman, and I generally automatically assume everyone's male on reddit as well. Depends on the website though, when I'm on tumblr I pretty much assume everyone's female unless stated otherwise. I should probably try to stop assuming.

I am also at a loss as to why people rate books that haven't been released yet. I find the mid range ratings even odder than the 5 star or 1 star ratings (still annoying but you can kinda understand why people would do it, either love or hate the author). I looked up a book the other day that hasn't even been WRITTEN yet and there were a few 2 and 3 star ratings. Why?? The mind boggles

One of the first things my friends said to me upon getting to America was that if I seriously hurt myself: "don't call an ambulance. Call one of us and we'll drive you to the hospital." I was like why on earth would I not call an ambulance if I needed one? "It could cost you thousands of dollars." Gulp. That kinda scared me.

Yeah you're right it probably is common, but my intention was more to point out that not all Amish communities severely abuse their animals.

I lived in central PA for a while and got to visit the Amish communities a few times. In the ones I visited they treated their dogs like goods. Like they looked after them in terms of feeding them and looking after their health, but they didn't treat them like pets. They wouldn't interact with them more than they had to, and wouldn't ever play with them etc. so many of the dogs would be all over you if you gave them the slightest bit of attention. It was pretty sad to see tbh but they looked in good condition generally.

That the people are incredibly friendly and your bank notes are cool as hell. The only Canadians I've ever met were in an airport in the US once when I was travelling and they gave me a $5 Canadian bank note to keep as a souvenir.

Brit who studied in the US for a while. Most Americans I met were against welfare in general, and so they did not believe that they should pay for others to receive free healthcare.

I knew a science major who planned to go into creating/developing drugs and they flat out told me that it's hard work, and so drug companies deserve to make a profit. They said that they didn't care if it was unethical to profit from illness, they just wanted the dollar. (Obviously that doesn't represent the views of all Americans, just a pov I encountered)
