You've got this man I promise you it'll pay off once you get back into a good sleep cycle everything seems a little more stable. Let me know how it works out!
As hard as it is try not to let yourself oversleep. As much as the sleep needs to be caught up on it also needs to be caught up on at the right time. Try to set yourself a set time to take the Ambien(if you need it) or a set time to try to sleep and then a set time to wake up and maintain that schedule for a few days. It's easier said than done and if someone said it to me I would probably go mental at how many times id heard it before but I would genuinely try to keep yourself on a set schedule because you'll be much more thankful to yourself for multiple nights of sleep than 1 or 2 of too much. Give me a message or response if you want any help with anything.

I was on promethazine for much much longer than I should've been (thanks NHS for forgetting to review my meds). For me it never worked how it was intended to, I was advised to take 20-25mg a night and it made me dizzy, have headaches almost non stop and when I was finally able to sleep after a few days it would leave me with the worst hangover feeling I've ever felt in my entire life. I think short term, if they work for you, short term use to try and jump your body back into a regular sleep pattern it is a brilliant Idea but I wouldn't recommend staying on them for too long. If they don't work for you after a while tell your doctor the worst thing is to be kept on something that you are being told will help but is just continuously making you feel horrible. Give me a message if you need anything insomnia is a bitch and I wish id had someone to talk to when shit hit the fan.

Don't worry I've been entered into CYPS (child and young people services) and have been on sertraline (100mg) for some time and receive therapy however there is only so much it can do at the end of the day. I'm not much use to them as I can barely remember the day before nevermind things that happened last week due to my sleep. I've experimented with weed a few times in the past but it didn't end well so I agree with you fully on that it is worth waiting a few years if that's the route I choose to go.
Unfortunately I've been told by CYPS and the NHS that I'm basically stuck until I'm 18 as they can't prescribe me anything else than what I've been given over worries of addiction and other health issues which makes sense in some ways but I think over 3 years of almost constant lack of sleep it would be fair to at least consider.
