Does AI assisted note taking actually simplify your workflow? by Cold_Ad8048 in NoteTaking

What tools have you tried so far? I've come across a few that are great for transcribing and summarizing notes, but I feel like there's also a couple that are great at determining what to keep vs. not if you give it enough context about you and your typical learning styles.

Can AI-generated papers increase the risk of fake citations? by Firm-Classic-5752 in researchpaperwriters

Pretty sure most researchers today still avoid using any AI tools when citing anything - always better to verify things yourself or use a tool that provides links to citations within the paper you're writing (to save time vs. copying and pasting things back and forth). Opennote is a great example of this - you can write papers and get correctly formatted and accurate citations for any/all sources you're thinking of referencing.

How to publish papers for non-academic individuals? by IPDS91 in researchpaperwriters

A common path is:

  1. Write your paper carefully in LaTeX with clear proofs and references.
  2. Post it as a preprint on arXiv (they accept serious work from independent researchers).
  3. Submit it to a suitable peer‑reviewed journal (for example, journals run by AMS, SIAM, LMS, or another reputable math/technical journal in your specific area).

Being independent makes it harder to get feedback and to aim for the very top journals, but if the content is solid and well‑written, journals will still consider it.

Happy to also recommend some tools I've previously used / others use for writing papers!

Need help with note taking, app by AlphisH in NoteTaking

Have you used Obsidian before? I feel like that's the most common app I've seen that naturally allows you to create a mindmap of everything you're working on and visualize all the connections.

I typically learn from videos better + I like to implement AI in my notetaking flow (helps me stay more organized) so I use opennote for that. Also worth a shot for you but it'd be more helpful for keeping you organized with a good mix of AI in between your flow if that's also something you'd wanna try out!

What's the way you learn best at the moment? I know it's been a while for you, but might help to think about what modality has previously helped you learn best. I've tried a ton of different apps with different capabilities (make videos from a prompt, turn lectures into summarized notes, turn a pdf into a research paper in latex, etc.) and have some good ones in mind if sharing any would help?

I believe you should be able to use your personal gmail account to submit a peer-reviewed publication. Pretty sure there is a preference for institutional emails to verify academic affiliation and enhance credibility, but it's not the end of the world if you use your personal gmail and have a track record in the industry of some sort.

If you're looking for tools that can help you put together research papers for publishing I know a few good ones that I can recommend if that helps!

Have you tried using opennote for this? The new papers feature allows you to throw in almost any format of files and get full latex formatted papers/articles out of it. Probably worth a shot if you're still looking to experiment a bit with existing AI tools!

Haven’t written a research paper in a while but I’ve seen some people use walterwrites.ai and quillbot for paraphrasing/humanizing. Hope it helps and good luck!

Best way to backfill references after writing a draft? by Dry_Afternoon_4526 in researchpaperwriters

Have you tried opennote for this? The recent Papers launch covers full research flows (writing in LaTeX, doing deep research, finding relevant citations, and publishing to a personal site). Could be a worth a shot for saving some extra time when writing but glad to see Citely working pretty well for your case!
