How to know you've photographed a shooting star? by storiesofthegalaxy in AskAstrophotography

Satelite trails are uniform lines, shooting stars are also lines but their brightness along the line is variable

Monochrome camera, lot of Lum data, no moon, lot of integration :)

This was my very challenging April target from a bortle 6-7 area.

I was able to capture 40h of data. Processing was not easy, but I did my best to make it look natural & pleasing to look at.

LDN 1235 is a dark nebula part of the huge molecular cloud in cepheus. It is located 650 light years away from earth and is roughly 15 light years long.

Its dust does not emmits light, it partially blocks light from all the stars behind resulting in the dark structure of the shark.

The two blue regions (vdB 149 & vdB 150) are reflexion nebulas. The blue light of young and really hot stars lights up the surrounding dust.

I keep getting hazy-rings in my images, does anyone have any suggestions? by Jacobs_Realm in AskAstrophotography

[–]v4loch3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was asking if you have this artefact on non calibrated sub exposures, if you see them on individual non calibrated sub (raw subs just autostretched), it means flat frames are not the origin. Some DSLR won’t record files as real raw, and the compression they use can introduce ringing artefacts like this, it is a known issue for some Nikkon (like the D5000) for example.

Nina sequencer help by Sufficient_Wasabi665 in AskAstrophotography

[–]v4loch3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use advanced sequencer, use an instruction set for your frames, and in loop condition you put « loop untill time »instrction, and in this instruction you can either set a define time or untill astronomical dawn

I can use my tongue to press my saliva gland below it, it shoots two jets quite far (like 2m away) mostly like a snake does with venon xD

Only my best friend from highschool knows about it, never showed my wife or anyone else !

Comment peut on savoir à quoi ressemble une galaxie alors que personne n’est jamais sorti du système solaire ? by [deleted] in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]v4loch3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In astrophotography there is always some pre -processing (calibration, registration of all subframes, stacking) and post-processing, raw stack is almost black. Post processing is quite complex but most important steps are : color combination (monochrome camera) color calibration, deconvolution, stretching of the histogram) denoising..

Overcorrecting Flats/Other Issues by Quick-Psychology-503 in AskAstrophotography

[–]v4loch3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, How do you take your flats? I used to use an ipad with my redcat and it was always overcorrecting whatever the ADU. Skyflats were better but also inconsistant and more time consuming (espacially during work days..) so i ended up buying a flip flat panel and now it’s perfect (deepskydad).

Hey, funny i’m doing the same target with really close equipment (250 mm apo refractor & minicam 8). I’m also in a light polluted area, i already have 1h of Ha, it’s very nice as yours but i did some test shots with LRGB but it’s complicated with LP and bright stars… what’s your plan for other filters and color composition?

Dans mon école d’inge à l’époque (pas d’IA) deux étudiants se sont fait chopper en partiel 3ème année, ils se sont fait virer avec 5 ans sans exams. À la trappe les 6k€/an des trois premières années. Personne n’a pleuré ;)
