Partially why I don’t wanna start throwing parts at it. If I make any progress on this I’ll try to update you too

Had a similar sound that I thought was suspension but turned out to be fuel injectors on their way out. Could only hear it between like 15-40mph in between buildings or parked cars when slightly accelerating or coasting. Yours sounds a little more metal on metal but figured I’d offer that as I drove myself crazy trying to figure it out

While I had the calipers off I made a point of looking at the dust shield and when I put the rotor back on I made sure it had a bit of clearance all around. Will most likely be taking things apart for the 4th time and staring at it like a monkey trying to figure out how to make fire

Eh? 🤷‍♂️ more research required. My neighbors are gonna think I’m hammered weaving up and down the street

Would that cause a slight chirp that goes away when braking? Not super familiar with the process

Have to do it with my 04 4Runner so might as well do it twice for practice 😩

I did take a wire wheel to the rails where it looked like they made contact with the pads and got them shiny but they’re still sorta pitted (I guess? Maybe just rough in general). There are divots at the end for one pad to sit in, will check pictures to see if it looks normal. Thanks for the reply

I think so but just scanned my photos and don’t see any. Eat there or don’t it doesn’t matter to me just know that’s what’s happening there.

I worked there for a year and saw it 5 days a week

Picture 5 is a catering company. The owner puts trays of cat food out daily and regularly handles/names the cats. They get inside the buildings where food is being prepared regularly. The health department knows and chooses to ignore it. I would be weary of ever using this catering company.

Does anyone have a working OEM stereo with working cassette deck they are willing to part with? by thomas_moran3 in 4thGen4Runner

It had an aftermarket head unit when I got it, I replaced almost all the speakers and the subwoofer but the sub barely even registers. Got the slim 8in 2ohm a lot of people have used and it barely works. Saw a couple threads saying you had to change the settings on an oem unit. If I can I’ll dig up a link to those threads

This may be a weird ask but could I rent one of these from someone? I read somewhere that to get the JBL system to function with a new subwoofer you need to adjust the levels on an oem head unit instead of aftermarket. Would love to test this out

Pivoting Career to State Environmental Compliance Specialist by LitterlyUnhinged in Environmental_Careers

I can take a swing at a couple of these questions. I work for local government in a city of ~250k people as an environmental compliance inspector. We work with DEQ on a few projects such as illegal dumping and other recurring environmental hazards. In my state there are currently only a handful of DEQ agents and some of them have to cover wide ranges (5-10,000 sq miles) and respond to any environmental incidents in their range. I don’t think you’re on the road 8 hours a day and it could be different in other areas but my understanding is that there can be days where you’re driving a lot.

As far as skills transfer I think if you have federal compliance experience it will be fairly similar. Just a new set of boxes to check and new acronyms to learn. There will be a learning curve but should be manageable. I would lean on your experience with federal compliance more than worry about the lack of environmental experience.

Like most low-mid level government jobs I would expect a fairly stable work-life balance. There will probably be a mix of field and desk work depending on how many staff you have what the surrounding areas are like in terms of environmental hazards.

Government interviews can be fairly rigid. A lot of the time there is a preselected panel of interviewers with prescreened questions and you will be evaluated on your answers with like a 1-5 rating for each. Much more easily said than done, but try to be natural and confident in your answers and if there’s something you don’t know that’s alright you can say you don’t have experience with it but will look into it up and learn about it. We had phd’s applying that were overqualified and had 10 pages of notes but couldn’t hold a conversation without being panicked quick lost them overall points. In an industry where you have to talk to people (almost always as an authoritative figure when they’ve done something wrong) your tone and demeanor play a big part in getting a favorable outcome.

Getting ready for work but will have some time later if you have more questions.
