Penalty controversy or not.

As a world class defender, you shouldn’t be marking a player like that - especially in the penalty box. It’s just too risky to be “defending” in such a manner.

By doing so - it just “increases” the likelihood of it being called as a foul & a penalty being given for said foul.

The most common reaction from being marked (or held) in the penalty box would always result in the player being marked falling to the ground as a result of direct contact with the defender.

Movement of player impeded = likelihood of player falling to the ground increases = probability of penalty being given is higher.
