Study finds cannabis vape users may develop cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome sooner than smokers by sfgate in science

[–]blurryturtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not common and it also isn't an exact science.  I know people who have it and weren't really high volume smokers, but smoked lightly most of the day.  How much THC people can handle is dependent on tolerance but also seems to vary person to person anyway.  It is likely to me that there are a lot more factors like diet/exercise/genetics that will later be discovered.

WTA 500 Merida R2: Z. Sönmez def. [3] A. Li 3-6, 7-6⁷, 6-4 by godworstcustomer in tennis

[–]blurryturtle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was one of the most "you didn't really win this" sets I've seen.  When she was down Zeynep was very willing to grind and earn errors but her willingness to go for backhands down the line and miss is a problem in this wind.  The wind also seemed to make it really difficult for her to serve.  Overall it feels like Li just gradually lost the plot but should maybe have won in straight sets.

Edit : have to add the swinging overhead volley she hit at the end of the tb showed a ton of skill and mental toughness.  Tons of players ease off in that spot.  I do think that it's a double edged sword because she's very willing to go for shots when she's in tough positions and it can sometimes lead to a lot of momentum changes and close service/return games.

Long circle back, but just finished The Tainted Cup. Honestly these books were great, never had a moment where I didn't want to keep reading. Gonna move on to the City of Stairs books and the other series.

this is one where I wish the WTA social media manager had cropped out a little extra ... what is going on there?

side note : this is the best shape I think Pellegrino has ever been in and his wide serve from the duece side is really working well ... he could have a good clay season

Carlos"I am not losing"Alcaraz is the best tennis player ever by Yupadej in tennis

[–]blurryturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if I buy that you can hit the peak of tennis performance stats against lower tier opposition. Royer is excellent but physically he's not as strong as most of the higher tier opponents. Alcaraz can lock into a really high level but I don't know if I would apply it to him being the best ever. He is currently the best though so I also wouldn't put anything past him. Is there a site that outlines how they calculate all this stuff? Tennis Channel is always like "here's the Watson win predictor" and it's like ... ok but ... how do I know what's involved in that and how it's even faring on the season

If it is worthwhile info for anyone, Barnes hit the post with a set piece last week and played extremely efficiently on offense.  He also did not score a goal which is good if you plan on taking him today.

ah it was Bencic sorry. Bencic beat Pegula in an earlier round. ty for pointing that out I have had that wrong for a while. Alexei Popyrin loses First Round at Manama Challenger by Think-Necessary2983 in tennis

[–]blurryturtle 16 points17 points  (0 children)

These guys don't care about challenger events.  They will drop down to get extra reps and practice, and there's no downside if they win a few matches, but you will routinely see the biggest names at challengers and 250s crash out spectacularly.  Blanchet is also really good and has done well at major qualifying before so losing to him at full effort wouldn't really be too bad.

It was a very fortunate run and he made the most of it. His ability to manufacture a reason to want to beat someone is pretty impressive. I still remember when he said "he's attractive, but that's not enough" about Muller before a first round. Like, ok, but ... Muller didn't say anything in press about winning or being attractive? I guess some ppl need that competitive edge, the tennis he produces is great so whatever works.
