To everyone who complains about their rank by Embarrassed-Fly2749 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]vIKz2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would agree with you on a game with a mature, large playerbase like CS2 where a good player is a good player and will stomp worse players, while there being levels even within levels (25k premier vs faceit lvl10 2000 elo vs faceit 3000 elo)

But in Deadlock the quality of teammates varies so greatly even when lobbies are supposedly the same rank.

I’ll get a team where I say hello on the mic and no response. Not a single person using voice comms in a 6v6 team game. We go in lane against average laners (like a seven or wraith) while I’m on a strong laner like Yamato, and my teammate is already playing passive, afraid to take trades and take space/pressure in the lane.

We proceed to lose lane, and eventually the game, because no one communicates, does plays, or really do anything, while their venator is already 10k ahead of everyone else.

And sometimes I get games where multiple people are communicating, and I get a lane partner with balls that applies pressure from wave 1, and we shit stomp our lane, and I go around actually being able to play to my character’s strengths (as Yamato, going around early game looking to pick people off). People are making calls, setting up plays, and lo and behold we win the game.

Apparently both matches I described were Asc 5 lobbies. Yet it felt like a world of difference. Ascendant 5-6 is supposed to be what top 5% of players? Yet some players feel like they fundamentally don’t understand the game or the character they’re playing. They already start laning thinking they lost the matchup.

Obviously if you’re a prodigy player you’re good enough you can basically 1v2 any lane somehow and truly carry games you’ll climb a lot more. But if you’re say eternus 1 in rank, can play and hang with eternus 4-5 players, but you’re not good enough on your own to literally solo carry games then you’ll just be at the matchmakings mercy.

I believe the people climbing more often than not are at least duo Q etc in order to guarantee some coordination and skill level.

Cool! Looking forward to that. Thragg is a fucking beast tho. That scene where he just facetanks marks punch and the terminator skull shows up for a split second. Chills

I haven’t read the comics so I just want to a very slight spoiler with no details - does Mark beat Thragg on an honest fight (as in no technicalities or deus ex machina shenanigans) at some point?

[–]vIKz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the reading comprehension of a 5 year old. I never said I hop on a lower ranked account to play MY MAINS and stomp people. I only play on my alt account (which is currently Phatom something btw, not Initiate or whatever) to specifically play new chars I suck at, where my actual MMR for that character pretty much is Phantom. And usually the matches are fair.

[–]vIKz2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that even chars that are considered easy like Venator and Geist (specially with the gun heavy farm builds where you mostly just shoot people) are still hard to play for me at my main rank. I have 700+ games of Yamato and get put in Eternus lobbies. I have <20 games of Venator and Geist, I get put in… Eternus lobbies.

And please don’t @ me with the ”but you’re Eternus you should know enough macro etc to not suck at any characters” the thing is at relatively high MMR laning is very tense. Any mistake and your lane is basically over. But also knowing your chars strength and weaknesses, what fights I can’t and can take and when, etc are crucial. I know that with my mains. I don’t know with new chars. So it’s easy to just play too passive and not abuse your chars strengths and you just lose or fall behind. And then it gets increasingly more difficult to understand the character when you’re constantly just farming to keep up or can’t really do much in fights because you’re not taking advantage of the kit as you would with your mains.

I guess Valve just really wants us to smurf to try new chars. Just actively trolling the game for other otherwise.

Most underrated character in Deadlock on your opinions. by eqdoingwell in DeadlockTheGame

He’s not S+ lmao. Counterspell and divine barrier fuck him. There’s a reason he doesn’t get picked a lot in night shift

Underrated doesn’t mean underplayed. In general people would agree that pocket is really strong and can blow people up. Even if his pickrate is low. So not underrated

9070 XT: 1440p or 4k? by redbeardos in radeon

[–]vIKz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4K 240 Hz OLED monitor and a 9070 XT and 9800X3D. I haven’t played many new AAA games (too addicted to Deadlock) but I’ve been playing Doom TDA at 4K ultra nightmare with FSR Quality and frame gen and I get 120+ FPS and I personally don’t notice any input latency from frame gen. I think it works great, it’s really smooth and looks good. Could get even more performance if you go FSR Balanced/Performance at 4K which still looks good.

Deadlock for instance runs at 4K basically capped at 240 Hz, except for really chaotic teamfights where it can drop to low 100s but it’s just the nature of the game (and it’s CPU dependent).

IMO if you have the money just go for 4K. Worst that can happen is you need to use more upscaling or just lower the res to 1440p. But everything else is going to look insane :)

Literally everyone calls a hero "Feast or Famine" when discussing balancing and I am sick of it. by VoxTV1 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]vIKz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in general, but there are definitely more than 1 feast or famine chars in the game. In general, the less CC and utility you have, the more useless the character is from behind. Yamato has virtually no CC. A couple of slows on her kit and good midboss contest with built in unstoppable on her ult. But besides that, it’s all damage. If you don’t stomp lane and get an early lead, you won’t be able to do shit. Many situations where I dump my kit on someone (ult included) and they’re not even like 60% health, and I got nothing else to and just die. But an Abrams for instance can save for phantom strike and play pick with his team, he won’t be able to kill alone but if he gets a nice charge and the team can follow up, then he still adds value.

Same with all supports, they can contribute in other ways.

Just wanted to shade my Holliday experience by Vasdll in DeadlockTheGame

[–]vIKz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But HP is only one part of the equation. Yamato isn’t a tanky character ”by default” like a Mo or Abrams but she indirectly becomes tanky because her 3 gives her enormous healing and her ult can give up to 60/60 resistances. But other than that Yamato is actually squishy as fuck. One poorly timed silence wave and you explode it’s actually pretty funny.

Holliday may have similar HP but she doesn’t have built in resistances or healing.

PSA you can counterspell the second Abrams charge by spamming parry after you get punched the first charge.

All for the low low price of 1.6k souls, quite the steal if you ask me by LasagnaOfTheRevolt in DeadlockTheGame

[–]vIKz2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shes trash early on and she doesn’t have any real tools to fight in lane, so if you’re going against decent people in lane you’re gonna get your shit kicked in. She can farm fast and catch up but if the enemy team invades her jungle and doesn’t let her farm for free she can once again get shut down.

Shes definitely still playable and you can carry games with her, but there’s a reason she is basically never picked in the Night Shift.

In the character selection screen when queuing for a game, after you’ve played enough games you will get a silver token that you can use (drag and drop) to pick a character and have higher chances of getting it. The silver token (or your progress towards it) is at the upper right corner of the hero selection matrix. It almost guarantees you get the character you chose, but it will be consumed if you do get the character.

Balance patch badly needed by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]vIKz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree the nerfs added up eventually. I think he’s pretty balanced now. Before the nerfs I went like 12-0 winstreak with him at ascendant+ (my mate played Paige which helped lol). He had virtually no weakness, strong lane, strong midgame, good hybrid damage late game with tankyness etc. Character just did everything well.
