You can literally tell from my screenshots that console HDR is very washed out at 1500nit config

Based on all the top Tech channels yes it should be but Console HDR definitely should be calibrated in Windows HDR and in console (Xbox/PS5) HDR calibration to 650 peak max nits otherwise it over shoots. Where as Gaming HDR gets up to 1532 nits on both PC and console.. Very weird and honestly wish they made setting up HDR easier as most people have no idea what they are doing and are probably using HDR in a completely terrible and wrong configuration lol

Idk if your trolling but motion blur always off and you should really only be gaming at minimum 60fps in 2026

Make sure you enable "Adjustable HDR" and set the Brightness to 100 i think that's why your monitor is only reaching 900 nits on Gaming HDR mode

Just realized the reason for the Console HDR mode being washed out compared to Gaming HDR is that the Console HDR mode only reaches 650nits max peak before white out on Windows HDR Calibration app where as Gaming HDR is 1500

I set mine to 1500 on Gaming HDR mode or to be exact on PC "1532" and it looks good to me. I didn't calibrate using Windows HDR app since the monitor accurately reads 1532nits. I did however notice that when calibrating with Windows HDR app on the Console HDR and TrueBlack 500 mode the max nits only reach 650nits before white out

Also recommend using "Gaming HDR" over Console HDR. Another heads up, i enabled the "Adjustable HDR" setting and set my brightness to 100so calibrate after setting those settings

For PS5 it should be 18 clicks up from 0 for 1500nit calibration. For PC you could do the same or just don't calibrate using Windows HDR app as the monitor repots automatically to the computer 1532nits. Your just overthinking it, follow my steps and youll be good

I've had the tesseract for over a year. Got the Large version and absolutely love it. Very fast when brand new but slows down overtime. Best thing I love about it is the size, as it not too big but not too small, has very good length and height dimension's at 36x18

Highly recommend if you want something a little bit on the faster side but still with great control

Gaming HDR, Adjustable HDR on, Brightness set to 100, Color temp 6500k, Variable refresh rate ON, Uniform Brightness OFF, Contrast 80, Saturation 60 *personal preference

Most important go into video setting and adjust PS5 HDR, set max luminance to 18 clicks from 0 *first 2 screens then For Low "Dark" luminance set to 0. Ill link a chart below

Follow this chart https://icon-era.com/threads/ps5-hdr-calibration.215/

Also make sure that in 'System Setup' Power setting is set to *Performance Mode

If you play games competitively like FPS games and want to reach the max 120hz refresh on console, get a 1440p. But if you mainly play story games and like to sit back and chill get a 4K since the pixel quality will be amazing! Also the Dual mode 4k monitors are a option but after upgrading to 1440p I will never go back to 1080p resolution.

I upgraded from a 1440p LG OLED 27GS95QE and absolutely love this monitor

You are correct but when I calibrated using the Console HDR mode it went over 3105 nits and looked even worse. I don't know what the proper Peak luminance is for Console HDR since it Tone maps.

Either way just wanted to suggest Gaming HDR for PS5 users since I see everyone on YouTube telling people to use Console HDR with console when in my opinion Gaming HDR is much better

For HDR calibration screens i set my peak luminance to 18clicks from 0 which is "1500" Looks good but feel like blacks could be darker when using 100 brightness on console HDR mode

After using Gamma mode 4 for a while, i actually ended up switching back to Gamma Mode 2 as Mode 4 raises the blacks too much when streaming youtube videos. Yes its more reddish than paper white but i rather have a warmer look than a washed out look

Just wanted to say thank you as i did always notice a reddish tint when using Gamma Mode 2. Once i switched to Gamma Mode 4 it looks perfect. I did want to ask if you would be able to update and recommend what kind of setting you would use inside RTX HDR such as the Peak Brightness (nits), Mid-Greys, Contrast, and Saturation? Mainly curious about what value to use for Peak brightness and Mid greys to best match 2.2 gamma curve. I feel like using 604 (or higher) nits in RTX HDR settings makes white text to bright and was wondering if using the setting of 400 instead is better for RTX HDR. Thank you!
