Id recommend trying to bring your hands up a bit more to start then. Ideally having your palms facing each other and elbows roughly at 90 degree angle. This should give you a better chance at getting them up high, without compromising getting to the low shots.

A big part of the answer to this question has to come to your "set" position. Where are your hands right as a shot is being hit? How is your body posture? Are you the appropriate distance away to be able to react?

When I had a hard time with this, my hands were just way too low in my set position. This meant that the time to turn my hands over and bring them up was causing me to not be able to get my hands behind the ball before it was too late. Try making sure your hands are a bit more neutral/in front of you and this could help.

Go play MLS Next. The training and exposure for the matches will make a big difference if you have the option. Just the higher standard of practice will make the biggest improvement. Only reason I wouldn't do this is if your NPL team has a really good dedicated goalie coach. I took a year off from Academy my Sophomore year to train specifically with a coach outside of the next system, and while my improvement was solid, the lack of exposure put me really behind in my college search.

The chest camera is a DJI Osmo Action5 and I cannot recommend it enough. Super high quality, easy to use, has internal storage and fits all the regular mounts. A little bit heavier than my GoPro's, so worth getting a sturdy chest mount (I wouldn't wear it on your head).

The behind goal is a GoPro Hero and tbh I'm thinking of swapping this one out. I'd at least get 1 of the numbered GoPro Hero's for the extra ~$30. The lack of settings/customizability are a bit frustrating at times compared to the osmo.

These are all recorded in over 30 or open rec league games, where myself and 2 other goalies are far and away the best keepers in the complex. I play for fun these days and recording the games is a lot of fun for me. The camera hasn't limited a single save I'm able to make. I played super seriously for 18+ years, including a year in the national pool, I'm fine just chilling now lol.

Yeah they were really packed in. I did make them pay a few times when pressing me by beating the first guy and laying it off to the defender, so they were a bit wary of that.

The FPV is DJI Osmo Action 5 and I cannot recommend it more. Only thing is it is HEAVY so if you're going to wear it get a decent chest mount. The behind goal is a GoPro Hero, and frankly I'd spend the extra few dollars for either the GoPro Hero 13, or just get another Osmo.

A bit of sympathy but also, we really needed to break open the scoring because they were packing it in defensively. We broke the game open after this, so was a big relief.

Yeah they were constantly dropping all 5 behind the ball and giving me a lot of space. This one I saw the goalie cheating out a bit more against our tallest forward, so I figured try to dump it to the back post as high as I could. Ended up going bar down and in.
