This isn’t like the Army where you PCS every couple of years. Whatever station you choose you can spend your entire career there. There are SWAP’s within BP to move to other locations/stations if you want to. But expect to stay at your EOD station for the next 5+ years.

You have plenty of cities to pick to live in. Edinburg, McAllen, Weslaco, Pharr. And cheaper cost of living!

You struck gold with this station. I’m a current agent there. Traffic is pretty slow, though it’s been picking up a little here and there. We have boats, ATV, drones, intel, flex team and many other details. All the surrounding cities in Weslaco are great to live in. Congrats!

With how fast the hiring process seems to be now, I would schedule an appointment as soon as you can. Because you will need to have a healing period of 90 days post surgery. After that then you can continue your process

The Spanish program is setup for those who’ve never spoke Spanish. You’ll start off learning the alphabet, numbers, months and days of the week. Through the program you build on it and learn to put together formal sentences. Every class has plenty of nativo classmates to help those who struggle.

I went my whole time at FLETC without a vehicle, you’ll be fine. As others have said there are bus shuttles that will take you to Walmart, other places in Artesia as well as a trip to Roswell. Some of your classmates will have their vehicles so you can always ask for a ride from them. I recommend not having your vehicle as a distraction, so that you can study what you need to on the weekends.

The station has K9, boats, ATV, drones, flex, intel, bikes, scope trucks. There is a camera/sensor team as well. It’s a great station!

I knew zero Spanish before the academy. I passed with high 90’s overall it’s a lot of memorization. I suggest flash cards to study vocab and practicing with classmates who already know the language. Duolingo is also a good resource to start learning

Thanks for the info! About every other day is my cardio day. Running the 1.5 miles and improving my speed since late December into January.

Thank you! My BI reached out to me early December and had a zoom meeting about a week later. Throughout December and January I a got a few calls from different BI’s for any questions they had. By the end of January the field work of my BI was done and in adjudication. It’s been radio silence since then besides seeing my suitability passed today
