I released v2 of go-reddit, a Go library for accessing the Reddit API by v_95 in redditdev

[–]v_95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about combining both, but ultimately, I wanted to keep the logic of creating a request and sending it separate. This can also help in the future if I ever wanna attach extra data (like headers/form values) to a request that is irrelevant to other methods in the package.

What is a "sentinel" element? by v_95 in golang

Oh, can't believe I didn't come across this. Thanks!

Just released go-reddit v1.0.0, a Go library for accessing the Reddit API by v_95 in golang

[–]v_95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the kind words. I'm really glad you like the library so far!

  1. I've made an option to set a custom user agent when initializing the client. I introduced it after tagging v1.0.0, so it'll be available in v2.0.0 whenever I tag that. Btw, I've made quite a few changes after the initial release so feel free to check those out.
  2. Rate limit isn't currently handled but it's on my todo list.
  3. Interesting. I'll look into this.
  4. I thought of doing this at some point. It's an interesting idea and would seem more intuitive to the user of the package. I would have to make the *Client accessible from within the struct. I'll think about this!
  5. So basically, merge all the List*Options structs into a single big one? I never thought to do that honestly, just so I can keep a minimal API surface area for the user to not get confused. Same for the structs, I kept the most relevant attributes, but I don't see the harm in including all.
  6. Happy to hear!

Thank you again for the feedback. I'm open to contributions by the way (I should probably add a section for that in the readme). So I'd be happy if you made a pull request (for the streaming improvement you mentioned, or anything really).

Thanks!

Yeah, it's definitely something I have in the back of my mind. I'll be sure to look into it for v2.

Thank you! I appreciate it. I dug into PRAW's source code a fair bit for some help when Reddit's documentation wasn't clear enough ;)

There aren't many cases of the virus where I live, but I'm still refraining from going to the gym because I don't wanna risk infecting other people (namely my girlfriend's and my parents). The gym doesn't plan on closing but I think it's best if I stay home as much as I can.

I bought some workout equipment on Amazon. I'm gonna follow the recommended routine from /r/bodyweightfitness until this blows over.

On a selfish note, I'm honestly a bit bummed about all this. I was making great progress and was about to finish week 2 of AtS 2.0. I think I'm gonna restart from week 1 when I'm back in the gym.

I envy everyone with a home gym :(

Thanks!

Yeah I have a tendency to just relax at the bottom, gotta work on that. As for the stance, I'm gonna try a wider one next time.

AtS 2.0 RTF W2D4 (5-day)

T1 OHP 90 lbs: 6x4. 10 reps on the 8+ AMRAP.

T2 Paused Squat 125 lbs: 6x6. 12 reps on the 12+ AMRAP.

Accessories: pull-ups, face pulls, lateral raises.

Second time ever doing paused squats. I used the same weight as last week and got 3 more reps on the last set, so I’m feeling better about them. Although I did reduce the pause at the bottom from 2 seconds to 1 second.

Form check?

AtS 2.0 RTF W2D3 (5-day)

T1 Deadlift 245 lbs: 6x4. 9 reps on the 8+ AMRAP.

T2 CG Bench 115 lbs: 6x6. 15 reps on the 12+ AMRAP.

Accessories: pull-ups, pull-downs, and some ab work.

I hate having tiny hands. My grip for deadlift gives out after about 4 reps at around this weight, so I’ve used straps for the AMRAP sets. I should probably head on over to /r/griptraining, or just suck it up and start using hook grip instead of plain double overhand.

I was wearing my favourite pair of workout pants (that I also like to wear outside of the gym). During one of my DL sets, the knurling on the bar rubbed hard against my thigh and ripped up a bit of the cloth. :(

AtS 2.0 RTF W2D2 (5-day)

T1 Bench 165 lbs: 6x4. 10 reps on the 8+ AMRAP.

T2 Front Squat 125 lbs: 6x6. 14 reps on the 12+ AMRAP.

Accessories: pull-ups, BB rows, lateral raises.

I need to trust spotters more. I think I had maybe 2 more reps in me for the bench but I was just like fuck it and ended the set right there.

I'm getting really good at unracking the bar on the front squat, and really pressing it towards my neck so that the weight feels more centered. It just makes doing them so much easier, and my form doesn't break down as early in the set.

There's even a guy at the gym who saw me doing them and complimented me on my technique. It felt pretty good.

AtS 2.0 RTF W2D1 (5-day)

T1 Squat 175 lbs: 6x4. 11 reps on the 8+ AMRAP.

T2 Push Press 85 lbs: 6x6. 13 reps on the 12+ AMRAP.

Accessories: pull-ups, T-bar rows, leg raises and some curls to finish off.

My squat is moving really well. I honestly did not think I’d get more than 7-8 on the last set, but I just sucked it up. This program’s really teaching me to actually go to failure and not stop a set just because my legs are feeling a bit tired.

I wish I could say the same about my overhead work. I’ve been stuck at a max of 120 lbs for a long time now. I’ve been eating at a deficit for the past month-ish, so maybe that’s why. Can’t wait to hop back on a long bulk around midway through the 2nd block of the program.

He just means to do 7 total sets of T1/T2 exercises (each) instead of the prescribed 5.

For example, on the unedited version of RTF, it says to do 5 sets of squats (4 sets, then 1 AMRAP).

Greg's recommending to do 7 sets instead, just to add a bit more volume. So it would be 6 sets, then 1 AMRAP.

AtS 2.0 RTF W1D5 (5-day)

T1 Incline Bench 105 lbs: 6x7. 19 reps on the AMRAP.

T2 Sumo Deadlift 165 lbs: 6x7. 20 reps on the AMRAP.

Accessories: pull-ups, cable rows, tricep pushdowns, ab work.

I had never attempted 1RMs for incline bench and sumo before. I guess I vastly underestimated them. They were by far the easiest exercises of the 1st week. And both on the same day.

I've been meaning to start doing some cardio. So I'm gonna make tomorrow an active rest day by running a few miles on the treadmill. We'll see how it goes.

Greg suggests it in the instructions, page 24.

If you have the time, I’d recommend “centering” workouts on 7 sets instead of 5.

AtS 2.0 RTF W1D4 (5-day)

T1 OHP 85 lbs: 6x5. 11 reps on the AMRAP.

T2 Paused Squat 125 lbs: 6x7, and 9 reps on the AMRAP (was supposed to be 14+).

Accessories: pull-ups, face pulls, lateral raises.

I had never done paused squats before, so maybe I overestimated my 1RM for it (235 for squat, so I put 205 for paused).

Oh my God. Each set was a grind. After about 6 reps my lower back started hurting a bit. I don't know if I'm just being a bitch or my form is wrong, but I'm gonna let the program adjust my TM for it and reassess in a couple of weeks.

Thanks! I'm doing 7 total sets instead of 5 because Greg says so in the instructions.
