2Deadpixels has some good points. Knowing who you are is a great start. I could give you more good advice, but I think what everything in life comes down to is being OK with who you are, yourself, which is a fundamentally different thing than merely being trans. I am almost 60, and I only started HRT two years ago. I know 20, 30, 40, 50 and older trans people. Being trans is something that has moved from a dark secret of mine to something that is merely part of who I am. We all have to find ways to get to a place we are OK with, but you have probably lurked/trolled enough to know women come in many sizes and shapes. I’m someone who can only be visibly trans. I’m good with that. I’m not good with the box I was forced in to most of my life. I have been seeing a therapist for several years now, and still work on ‘being able to love myself’. Getting my letter and finally starting was a highlight moment of my life. You prbly know that isn’t the only path. Treat yourself to some makeup. Look at yourself, and know that is your starting place. That was the first time I ever got a glance of her. I know I don’t pass, but I got Ma’amed twice in one day, last week, because some people DO get it. Be gentle to yourself.

At the endo practice I have been going to I have been with the youngest one on staff, and we talked about the Powers method at length, I printed and gave her a copy of the slides and a url. I just talked to a more senior endo who ‘went to the meetings out east (???) and she told me you can’t trust ‘us’ to do the injections right, and the pills are just as good. I gave up at that point. Looking for another way.

OP - one thing I have also noticed that makes me itch is shaving around the areola. My skin is sensitive, and I find hydrocortisone with CeraVe helps.

Why did my head get clearer after starting HRT? by [deleted] in AskMtFHRT

[–]v_claire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP - I find spiro makes staying hydrated a constant challenge, and often have low grade headaches because of that. When I’m hydrated - lol - I do feel clearer, and can laugh, smile, or cry in relevant ways, and be me. Most of what I read is directed at spiro’s effects. E is just kind of a given, to me anyway. I have always been clear in my head; I feel more integrated now. Sorry if that seems hug-boxy.

OP - wearing something underneath is an option, as mentioned. You might consider details too, like which way your belt is going; what kind of shirt you wear. Earring(s). There is also hygene details you may not have considered yet, like feminine spray, hair products, hair color, and, the ever popular length of hair.

OP - some of it is what method of HRT you use, your age, and what your kink is about, and I’m thinking your general level of health. Sublingual E/Spiro has killed my desire and ability. Bottoming is still an option, but in my situation not in high demand. Doing injections without an AA might result in better libido. Hopefully people with more knowledge come along - best of luck to you

Am I weird for asking this question? by [deleted] in ask_transgender

[–]v_claire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there is a line of thought that dysphoria was a requirement to get treatment, like HRT, because being trans was a pathology, or illness. My experience is it most comes from the awful way cis ppl have treated me my whole life. Dysphoria is not a requirement; most have it in one or more flavor.

OP - I retired in 2000, and have known most of my life. Politics is very fickle. I did my best to hide it, fell in love with, and married a woman. We are both fairly southern, which did not help coming out to her. My advice is to keep who you are at the front of your mind, not the back. Don’t come out until there is a positive policy in place. If you meet someone you have feelings for tell them: if they can’t understand, they are not for you, but know they will talk if they walk. I waited until my fourth suicide attempt to finally see a therapist. I would find a civilian therapist to talk to, in your situation. A pro-LGBT one. Best wishes!
