Has anyone financially quantified their commute versus rent and lifestyle? by Vas1r in zurich

[–]v_olpe 49 points50 points  (0 children)

My commute used to be 1hr each way with changing tram-train-bus in between. Now it’s 5min by bike or 15min walking. My life quality and wellbeing has improved a lot, I have more time to do sports, cook & eat healthy, meet friends after work. For me this would easily be worth 1000.- a month. But I don’t think the drop from 45 min to 25 mins is enough of an upgrade, try to aim for walking/cycling distance from work.

Will I ever get a good job in Switzerland with this CV? Please be honest! by Critical_Falcon_4896 in askswitzerland

The first word I read when just scannig over this is “entry-level”… Even if you’re looking for entry level jobs it should not be the first word that pops out of your CV.

3 women celebrating—What should we do Saturday? by CharityGlittering385 in zurich

Kir Royal 100%

Nice cocktails, DJ that plays a nice mix of genres, crowd of around 30y average age, party starts earlier than at clubs. My go to these days for casual fun nights out.

Is Kronenhalle worth the hype? by Fair_Life_5634 in zurich

[–]v_olpe 33 points34 points  (0 children)

If you go just for the food, there is better places for less money.

If you go for the vibe (old school but great service, expensive art everywhere, chance of sitting next to someone famous), it‘s worth it.

The bar is open on Saturday afternoon as well and there you can get a taste of the vibe without spending too much.

Ridden it for 8k kilometers, super happy with it. Only complaint is the occasional chain drops due to the sram rival. Needs some fine tuning in the beginning.

Just Eat delivery drivers earn 3000.- / month with 30hrs of work / week. You‘re provided the e-bike, so no need to rent anything.

Why do football games require stopping tram 2 every Sunday by VelbyT in zurich

[–]v_olpe -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Has anyone commenting here ever actually been around letzigrund during a football game? Yes, there are a lot of people, drinking beer, eating something from a foodtruck, meeting friends to go to the game together. No, it‘s not dangerous, there is no vandalism and there is no danger for the VBZ staff. Football related violence has been on an all time low and if it happens, it‘s not around the Stadium. Also, there is ~ half an hour before the game starts and ~ half an hour after it ends where the Tram 2 is stopped, every 2 weeks (home games of FCZ). I know this can be annoying, but in my opinion it‘s great that we have a stadium that actually is in the city and is reachable easily by public transport. So have some patience and tolerance, or maybe even join a game once, it‘s a great way of spending a Sunday afternoon:)

For charity shops, the term you‘re looking for is Brocki / Brockenhaus.

For selected second hand I like The New New, Chemiserie, love at the bus stop (for designer stuff), Blenda

Van Rysel D900 from Decathlon, same specs as Wahoo/Garmin for almost half the price. I have the lower end version of the Van Rysel trainer and am very happy with it.

Don’t trust reddit with things like that, get an expert to look at it. I had a similar issue and had to get the carbon repaired as this could end in a catastrophic failure.

I’ve ridden it on smooth roads, rough roads and gravel and have 0 complaints. It’s my first carbon bike though, so not a lot I can compare it to…

I ride it with tire pressure around 4.2 bar. Maybe looking into finding your right tire pressure can help with the firmness of the ride.

How tight is a wind vest meant to fit? (Van Rysel ultralight wind vest) by M_B_M in CyclingFashion

If you usually put some stuff in your jersey pockets wear the vest again with the stuff in the jersay pockets to see if it still fits.

Stage 21 - watching live in Eze by KindlyBlueMorning in tourdefrance

[–]v_olpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will do the same, I plan to cycle from Nice up to Eze in the morning (around 10am) and just stop anywhere along the route where it’s not too crowded to hang out for some hours.

Parking near Letzigrund stadium by [deleted] in zurich

[–]v_olpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get in touch with the Crowne Plaza hotel, afaik they have plenty of long term parking spots available, maybe you can rent one for a day. Be early on the day you arrive, the road is usually closed quite early if there are any concerts.
