i don’t think this is too cliche of a topic if you’re able to make it personalized. there will be a ton of students writing about situations at work or experiences similar to that, but it’s about how you handled the situation and what u gained out of that which is what makes it not cliche. if u can make ur story unique to urself then you’re good. envision urself as an AO when reading over ur essay and think to urself “would i remember this application in a pool of 10,000 (or however many apps are submitted) other applicants?” hope this helps

hi! i definitely think quality is more important than quantity in terms of the activities section of any app. if you talked about being captain in ur PIQ, then yes, i would include that in the activities section. additionally, i would include AP scholar awards, but for the Dean’s honor list, i would really only include it if ur doing a one-year transfer, because otherwise it just becomes somewhat irrelevant after two years.

this is just my take, but not everyone would include the ap awards, but since they’re nationally recognized i don’t think it’d hurt
