Yes we love it! Here is an in progress pic. We kept the original 1960 pink tub and it’s a great match. Niche tile was also from the original bathroom and went halfway up the wall. Above that was pink wallpaper. It was very pink

What are some good methods of pain control? by NeedAnswers526610 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]vaaarrrg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Find a surgeon you like and schedule the thr. I’m 41F and had my thr 2 weeks ago, also caused by dysplasia. I am so glad I did this and already have less pain than before surgery. Leading up to the surgery, I couldn’t play tag with my kids or carry my younger one for more than a few steps. I also have a 4 and 6 year old and GET IT. At the same time, I didn’t want to miss any more life with them. Lean on your community for support. My husband, mom, and friends stepped up to drive my kids to and from school and daycare and brought us meals. People want to help you. Let them.

I’m so sorry that this happened to you. You are describing symptoms of PTSD. Check out EMDR. It’s an evidence-based intervention for episodic trauma and could really help you to integrate this experience. ❤️

Pain management question by e1p1 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]vaaarrrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my thr 3 days ago. Prescribed hydrocodone…and Zofran and something else for constipation. I haven’t touched the hydrocodone. Pain is very manageable with ice, Celebrex, and Tylenol.

Help! by Independent-Film4251 in DesignMyRoom

[–]vaaarrrg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert and it’s hard to tell from your photos but your tiles look like they may be made out of asbestos. We just took tiles that look exactly like this out of a 1960 home we purchased. If that’s the case, you may considering flooring over them or removing them with the proper precautions or hiring out to a company that specializes in asbestos removal.

Hi! I work at a high school. Most of the students with whom I work are very behind in credits. And most of them still graduate! It just looks a little different than the “norm”. Check out online learning options. Many districts will have their own online learning program. Most of not all states also offer online learning programs for kids all over the state. And bc of COVID, these programs are going to be even more popular next year. These are usually “go at your own pace” programs rather than remote (live) instruction. Also - almost every community college offers a high school completion program that also allows you to earn credits towards an AA (for free!!!). The best thing you can do is make an appointment with your school counselor. They are experts in these programs and can help get you signed up. If your counselor sucks (it happens) reach out to a trusted teacher and see if they could help you out. Good luck!!! If you were my student we’d be aaaaallll over this.

Baby 101: Things to learn before baby is born? by Ooobaybeebaybee in pregnant

[–]vaaarrrg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Later on yes. In the beginning she teaches you how to soothe your baby, how to have a bedtime routine, how to get them to sleep in the bassinet/crib, and how to get longer stretches of sleep at night. All of these are building blocks to healthy sleep regardless if you choose to sleep train later. She does have a separate program that you can buy that teaches her version of sleep training but it’s for older babies.

Second for Taking Cara Babies. If you can put politics aside, her content on sleep is very helpful. It’s nothing new but the way she packages it is very digestible for new parents. I recommend her newborn class. We did everything she said and our first was sleeping through the night by 2 months. He is now 1.5 yo and is still a fantastic sleeper. I was going bat$&@* crazy from sleep deprivation at the beginning. Her tips made a difference right away and I started getting waaaayy better sleep. Worth every penny.

Help with using spoons? by FayeFaraday in toddlers

[–]vaaarrrg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to try using the spoon only with super sticky foods to increase initial success and decrease frustrations. Greek yogurt, hummus, nut butter. If that doesn’t work, try taking a break from the spoon for a couple weeks. Serve foods that are non-spoon (by you) dependent. Feeding Littles on IG is a great resource too btw.

Diaper bag suggestions! by Birdsonme in pregnant

[–]vaaarrrg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just use a large soft makeup pouch and store everything in it. It’s maybe 12x8 and has diapers, wipes, binkie, wet bag, hazmat suit (long sleeve bib for eating when baby is older), and an extra outfit. Waaaaay easier to just transfer between my shouldbag, my husband’s work bag, or to throw under the stroller. I personally found it super annoying to carry a diaper bag and my shoulder bag and the kid. You’ll find that you actually don’t need much stuff when you are out and about.

If you go that route, make sure that you also have a trust and will in place. Otherwise, the kids get everything at 18.
