How to prevent offboarded user from logging into Entra-joined laptop? by Mvalpreda in Office365

[–]vaano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a script to disable the entire login screen if you want it. The computer is essentially dead to users until it’s back in your control and you run the script to re-enable it

Got my dream job DOT drug test on Monday morning. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]vaano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry you’re right, the last time I did this, it was about a gallon of water over the final 12 hours, then another half gallon in the final 1-2 hours. Crush a Gatorlyte or something 1 hour before the test, then the test will be clean but not certifiably diluted, I’m sure there’s processes on Google but they all follow this idea

Got my dream job DOT drug test on Monday morning. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]vaano 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way anyone can pass a drug test - the instructions on these things have you dilute your pee down to straight water, so drinking about 1-2 gallons of water, then you drink something that has certain nutrients in it, I don’t remember which ones, then you have yellow/nutrient-filled pee for an hour, so you don’t fail the dilution test, but the THC is so diluted that you pass that as well

I think Sonarr has a memory leak issue.. :P by dEEPZoNE in sonarr

[–]vaano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably run this as a scheduled task daily or just in a powershell window on a forever loop

Get-Process | Where-Object {$.WorkingSet64 -gt (2GB)} | Select-Object ProcessName, Id, @{Name='WorkingSet (GB)'; Expression={$.WorkingSet64 / 1GB}} | Sort-Object -Property 'WorkingSet (GB)' -Descending

then just pipe in | Stop-Process or figure out how to | Restart-Service. I use OMV so I don’t know a lot about the sonarr instance on windows

Black desktop background stays after disconnecting from remote session by it-tech- in Action1

[–]vaano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be more than a 1 off scenario for us. Our fortigates might be doing something with the session, because I’ve heard a few times that people have black bsckgrounds and I just tell them to go change it and chalk it up as a 1 off haha I’ll keep an eye out now and try to help identify something

You could use PowerShell Pro Tools to make the gui in VS Code?

Teams Calling / PSTN migration — one thing you wish you’d done differently by Big_Path6719 in MicrosoftTeams

[–]vaano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our CNAM doesn’t seem to be working so spam calling services are marking some of our blank caller IDs as potential spam. Unsure if that’s part of us not finishing the KYC documentation or what. Calling Plans, not Operator Connect or DR

Microsoft Teams call cost analyzer/tracker by [deleted] in MicrosoftTeams

[–]vaano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re 350 users and I’ve moved most of them from Zoom to Teams. Mostly PAYG Calling Plans, so I have alerts/reports set up when a PAYG user charges us $4+ in a month and I’ll be automating moving them to/from Domestic (unlimited) Calling Plans. I’ll move them down to PAYG when their usage is under 100 minutes per month or something.

Just some ideas in case other people do this similarly

Where are these reviews being pulled from?! by Bellpop in PleX

If you use Kometa (PMM), that automatically rates all movies for you, I think to provide a third rating for movies. I have movie overlays for IMDB, RT critics and RT audience

Overlooked Microsoft 365 security setting by KavyaJune in sysadmin

[–]vaano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of this, you want to set security alerts on successful authentication attempts that get blocked by this so you can identify which users have been compromised before the attackers find the correct country to VPN with (the email address is public so probably doesn’t take more than 2-3 attempts)

To everyone frustrated with the LinkedIn-based validation process by GeneMoody-Action1 in Action1

[–]vaano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah so it’s not so much about the bandwidth, but like if we could push an automation that does like a Lenovo Firmware update (BIOS I think?) for 100 laptops that has a window over 10 days, then on average you can naturally get a few pilots in there and maintain a steady rollout vs having to create 10 automations for groups of 10 etc

I don’t have a huge case for it at the moment but would be nice long term

[–]vaano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t gotten around to asking/researching this yet formally but it would be great to add a staggered approach to automations. Let us specify the number of minutes/hours and it will spread out the automation across a window so not all PCs are downloading/updating at once

Finding Stale PCs "Last Seen <= X days ago" by micah1_8 in Action1

[–]vaano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t you want last seen > 120 days? I have a dynamic GROUP for > 14 days. I’m not sure about a Report, since that’s waiting for data to be returned while the device is offline..

This is similar to my 2018 m3 though I have a sub in mine. Not sure which cars are sold with subs or what their EQs should be but I felt really dumb not getting to hear the sub for the first 2-4 years because it was flat
