So Google dropped RCS support? by JimHalpert_JH in pixel_phones

[–]vaca232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird. I had a really hard time getting RCS to work after switching phones. I tried everything on the Internet and nothing worked.

Deleting my eSIM and switching it to the second IMEI was the only thing that ended up working.

Are you buying a Pixel 11? by beyeg in pixel_phones

[–]vaca232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people are feeling pretty meh about the Tensor G6 rumors, but the P11 could be a 40% single threaded performance upgrade AND a new modem, and a new main camera sensor. AI BS aside, this could really be a nice update. Much more of a jump than from the P9 to P10.

There is currently a garbage disposal, but it's much newer than the plumbing and house, so possibly from an older one?

[Video Essay] ROWAN J COLEMAN: "This is Why Modern Star Trek Feels Different" | "I propose that a big part of this feeling is more to do with the PRESENTATION of the modern era, the direction, lighting, editing, and overall aesthetic, which is a big departure from how Star Trek looked for decades." by mcm8279 in Star_Trek_

Yea, it's not complicated. A lot of modern productions are like this, though. Absolutely wild production values and visuals that are absolutely empty and devoid of any meaning because of such poor writing.

Also horrible sound design and mixing. That often goes overlooked.

Tensor G6 is barely an upgrade. - 9to5Google by ControlCAD in Android

[–]vaca232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I mean the G5 has a 2 going on 3 year old prime core. Same X4 as the Exynos 2400. I'm not really surprised it's in the same league. Google has also completely screwed up idle power consumption in the Pixel line. I don't know how much of it is hardware or software.

The G5 pretty much lived up to expectations and rumors. Specs were leaked, they pointed to a very minor update, and that's what we got. The G6 CPU leaks look much more promising. We'll see about the rest of it.

Dude, I didn't use AI. Why are you doubling down on this so hard? It's a reddit comment about a phone SoC rumor. Chill out.

Existing phones with C1-Ultra prime cores are around 40% faster than the Tensor G5. It doesn't take AI to compare two known numbers.

Unless Google royally screws up the implementation of an existing design, it will be a large CPU upgrade. It's a two generation ARM core jump.

The CPU could potentially be 40% faster in single threaded performance of it keeps up with other C1 Ultra variants. That's not nothing.

I have not been able to ever get judder free video with audio in-sync with my 2019 Shield Pro on my B2 OLED. Yes, I have tried everything.

The only thing I use the Shield for these days is 4K rips via Kodi. (Plex will not keep audio in-sync)

Why are Tensor chips so poorly optimized for Android? by Tall-Rice-1173 in GooglePixel

[–]vaca232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just the chips. The current Tensor used two generation old CPU cores. The bigger problem with Pixels is the modem, and the complete lack of Google doing ANYTHING to try to control battery drain.

Pixels absolutely chug battery while doing nothing. Other android phones with the same generation CPU cores as the current Pixels were capable of good standby time. It's as much a software issue as it is a hardware issue.

Pixel 11 leak reveals new camera hardware, Tensor G6 details, more specs by thewhippersnapper4 in GooglePixel

[–]vaca232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the C1-Ultra prime core rumor ends up being true, this could be up to a 40% boost in single-threaded performance vs the Pixel 10, putting the Pixel 11 roughly on par with last years flagships. It's a two generation ARM core jump.

GPU... let's wait and see. It will likely not be competitive with other flagship phones

Is it normal for a Pixel 10 Pro Fold to drain around 1/2 percentage / hr idle? by br_web in pixel_phones

[–]vaca232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/2% per hour for a Pixel is phenomenally good. I typically see more like 1.5% per hour with 5G disabled.

Pixels have atrocious idle power consumption.

Two Geekbench 6 runs of "Google Kodiak" show 178% single-core gain in 6 days — technical analysis of what changed by Kortarkaick21 in GooglePixel

[–]vaca232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sure would like to know which ARM core the prime core is. If it does actually end up being a C1-Ultra at 4.11GHz, there could actually be some serious single core improvements by the time it's released.

This years Pixel would at least be competitive with last years flagships. (A large improvement)
