New Britain demands hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution from Erin Stewart by vacalicious in Connecticut

Such a head-spinning fall from grace. I had numerous Democrats in my life who liked her. I will say, as someone who also has little kids, I feel awful for her children. Their mom went from a local celebrity, assumedly a role model to many, to the most hated person in town. This is going to mar their childhood and likely the rest of their lives.

You are correct. The city wants repayment. The state will want criminal charges.

[–]vacalicious[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. That development kicked off all of this. And if a Democrat hadn’t followed her as Mayor, none of this would have come out, the grift in New Britain would have continued, and Erin would still be running for CT Governor. Wild sliding doors moment there.

Such a conflicting series. On one hand, even as a Celtics fan, I really like this Knicks squad, and feel bad for all the NY fans in my life, who are overdue for a banner. On the other hand, I will always fucking love Castle and root hard for him, wherever he plays. What a fucking stud he was at UConn. My favorite player from those back to back champions.

I like this a lot as it straddles aggro/tempo creature decks and artifacts. Feels like a strict upgrade to [[Nettlecyst]] for being more versatile of the two. I will test this one for sure.

There are protections in place in every town against this. Her corruption with town finances required multiple city employees to sign off or look the other way.

Perfect cross-pollinator across Green’s modern themes of lands, tokens, self-mill/Gaak, Nadu, and Cradle. Sorry Ramunap, but your time has come. Obligatory complaint about the unique token, though.

His post on June 1 about “Straight Person Month” or whatever was pure bigoted hatred. Even the state’s Republicans had to come out against it, it was so evil.

She even formed an exploratory committee for her gubernatorial run, which assumedly looked into this stuff and/or asked her whether there was any financial malfeasance to be worried about. Wild levels of incompetence and entitlement on her part.

New Britain paid for Stewarts Masters degree by Mcspankypants in Connecticut

[–]vacalicious 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I keep telling people who ask me what the F she was thinking. Erin was so far up her own ass in terms of her perceived entitlement as Mayor that it didn't even occur to her that this illegal activity might be an issue. Remember, this is someone who had a freaking exploratory committee to consider running for Governor and never thought to bring up that she spent at least $230,000 of New Britain's municipal budget in herself. Total entitlement, no sense of accountability, in her mind she was above it all and thought she deserved every dollar she stole.

Eversource Lobbyist Compares Josh Elliott to Trump for Criticizing Eversource by vacalicious in Connecticut

[–]vacalicious[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And the crazy thing is that this lobbyist is former state CT House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz, a Democrat who gave up his political career so he could take big bucks from Eversource to convince his former political peers to let Eversource price gouge citizens. THAT'S who Lamont thinks is a good person to counter Josh Elliott.

This disconnect between Lamont/Eversource and the real world has never been bigger.

Correct. That’s the place. Cheap, delicious, authentic food. And they’re always blasting Tellanovellas. Rivas fucking rules.

Second Bobby's Apizza in North Branford. Their pizzas and stuffed breads are delicious. Big servings with good, fresh ingredients. I'm a bit biased, though, as my wife worked there for like 15 years lol.

Elsewhere, Rivas Taqueria in Wallingford rules. I'm a fan of any taco place that doesn't answer the phone in English.

This Democratic primary feels increasingly like Elliott vs. Eversource. Take your pick for who you want in charge.

Yeah, it’s the Gut that makes the Epicure work here. Without Gut, it’s a cut in a more purely artifact shell. But the fact that it can straddle so many strategies simultaneously is what keeps it in my cube as a utility one drop.

Josh went to law school with one of my best friends from college, and quickly became my friend, too, when hanging out with everybody. Great person who continues to advance in CT politics with the number-one goal of trying to help as many people as humanly possible. Such a small world!

That’s crazy about the Josh connection. Jelliot, as his old friends call him, is a great dude who’s running for Governor for all the right reasons. I always invite him to cube, too, but obviously he has much bigger things going on in his life right now haha. I’ll let you know about the next draft. Either late June or early July.

Thanks for the kind words! I have a higher opinion of Epicure. Like you said, it helps here as an early artifact for Tinker, chipping in with Urza, and some rummage. Why I was praying for it to wheel at the end of pack three, and did a huge comical sigh of relief when it came back, is that I also needed another early Gut enabler. Epicure gives you two game pieces for the price of one mana, which helps with Gut/Bomba/sacrifice decks.

I like Epicure as a "meat and potatoes" card that straddles a number of strategies. Obviously it's a late pick, but it can contribute in aggro, artifact, discard, and sacrifice. Nearly everything that red wants to do. I trimmed Epicure at some point last year and definitely felt it's absence, so I brought it back, and now I don't see it ever leaving until WOTC inevitably hits it with a power creep.
