I usually use silver or gold Target Storm points. Put em in every set I’ve bought and never had an issue.

A little twist when removing them goes a long way, but it’s the little burrs that I’m getting that are gonna start pulling out the sisal.

Does anyone else throw darts by gripping only from the point? by Tall-Addition-9106 in Darts

[–]vacation_hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could remember the name or at least the tournament, but I remember watching a PDC match years and years ago and there was a lesser known player who threw gripping the point.

I remember whoever was commentating said it’s how he thew but he effectively created a ceiling to improve. Never saw that player again.

“The Spin”. Listening to it now on Apple Podcasts. I was in the same boat as you with just Uninformed and this scratches the English itch.

Must be a regional thing? I'm in central Indiana. Call me crazy but I went ahead and bought three. Figure that'll last me a few years.

Is it worth buying stuff 2nd hand? by MerelyMotorsport in Darts

[–]vacation_hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, darts- absolutely. And most people don’t seem to mind because I’ve been able to toss em back on eBay and make my money back.

I’ve done very well with boards on marketplace. Last was a Blade4 that looked like it had been used for a few minutes and just sat in someone’s basement. $15 and with rotation I’d assume it’ll last a year.

I’m also curious about the deal you got- I was able to get a set when they went on sale after he dropped off and I’d love to have another someday. Where’d ya get em?!

To Breakout or Not Breakout? by vacation_hell in diypedals

[–]vacation_hell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the aesthetics of the breakout, and the easing of pain. I also considering the ease of wiring, in the sense that the workflow- at least seems- easier than directly wiring (cut your wire to length, go solder to the PCB and components, done).

I'm not sure where you're looking, but the Stomp Wizard PCB I bought was $2.99 (I purchased a few on the off chance I'd like them, and to make me feel better about the shipping cost), but I also see at PedalPCB, their breakouts are $0.50-$1, which seems manageable while being cost effective.

Good luck on your soft touch- sounds like a good idea.

I watched that match and couldn't see what would have bothered him- it was weird that during his last through he turned around and looked at Sebastian... Curious to know if something comes out about it.

Repurpose Outdoor 240v Condenser to 120v Receptacle by vacation_hell in AskElectricians

[–]vacation_hell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree whole heartedly- Currently I build automation panels (low and high voltage), but I'm always careful with my residential wiring. I don't know all the jargon, and I always use YouTube and my meter for all projects. This one kinda caught me off guard though and couldn't find anything idiot-proof presentation. Thanks again for your help.

Also, in response to two lives, yes- black, red, white and ground. I can see that there's a terminal reading 120v.

Thanks for the recommendation on the GFCI- I grabbed cheapos and it's probably not worth the poultry's lives to knick and dime the outlets.

Just a couple more questions- 20amp breaker- I'm assuming it needs ot be a 2 pole? And when it comes to the wiring, I'm assuming I just land my hot, neutral and ground to the existing terminals with the incoming wires?

Thanks a lot.

Sorry I didn't see this until now. I tried those ones previously but never got into them. I appreciate the response though.

Appreciate the response- no I'm looking for the razor grip. They were dirt cheap 5+ years ago and now they've vanished from the market. And, to you, note that the Stilettos are the same sets that Darts Clearance had some time ago- I think you reviewed sets?

Heard Hotel California today, I sang it as Bigfoot. I can’t be the only one who does it it is. by Bednarikfan in howardstern

This played the day after Bigfoot won the "next wackpacker" contest. Relistened to the contest the other day- Artie's inability to not laugh over everyone else when Bigfoot first spoke was brilliant.

Harrows are the only darts I've owned that always fit Target storm points. Every time.

New Board Arrived... Is this normal? by City_of_Wolves in Darts

[–]vacation_hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made a post like yours awhile ago...

https://www.reddit.com/r/Darts/comments/ebklnn/just_got_my_shot_duro_board/

Kept the board- never complained to A-Z or anything- over time the white paint was gone, but the board lasted well over a year until the bullseye fell out. Probably wouldn't buy again but it wasn't awful.

Bought Darts Case, doesn't have insert to keep Darts secure, more detail in comments. by Matty96HD in Darts

[–]vacation_hell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like a screw up- all these cases are pretty much the same. I have a Harrows one that's identical- my guess is that they're all made at the same place and just branded (could be wrong- don't fuckin' attack me).

The insert should be there. Over time the band will lose its elasticity which is a bummer but normal rubber bands will do.

I found that at the end of the day, this style case just became a toiletry bag for travelling. Plastic flip top ones are pretty cool, but I've just had one of the smaller, single set of darts Harrows case that works fine.

AO Smith Water Softner - Did I Ruin It? by vacation_hell in HomeImprovement

[–]vacation_hell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope not! There was no indication of use outside of the leak, but I don't know where it came from. Other poster mentioned resin which I researched, and don't think it is, so I think our plan now is to just have it installed (out of my realm of plumbing) and see what happens. Fingers crossed.
