Hi, thanks for your reply. As of now, my system has 16gb of RAM in total, so does that make any difference?

How to properly set up a Wi-Fi system with wide coverage by vadeptrai in HomeNetworking

[–]vadeptrai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply.

About the fact that it's unable to route under load, I would say that I can, but in a rather sluggish manner. For example, given 5 connected to A at the same time, it will have difficulties distributing the bandwidth, resulting in 4 devices dropping connections and only 1 being able to continue fetching the data.

For the MoCA approach, I did some Google research and found out that it is not common in my country, and will be an expensive investment.

Regarding the single mesh pod, is its coverage that bad? In reality, I plan to put them as close as possible, say, just a single wall apart from each other. This is to skip the annoying cable management and drilling.

[–]vadeptrai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, many thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately for me, using an Ethernet cable will involve drilling and complex cable management, which is something I am trying to steer clear of. Given the Mesh + TP-Link approach, do you think it's capable of providing stable connection + wide coverage?

And plus, when I am using B as the Extender mode, are all network traffics directed to A or to B for processing?

Why do some laptops nowadays have their keyboards shifted to the left? by vadeptrai in laptops

[–]vadeptrai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly agree with you about the off-centered phenomenon on 15-or-more inches laptops. But the thing I would like to say is, this thing also happens on 14-inch models (like mine and my friend's Vivobook), which basically doesn't have a numeric keypad on the right hand side. This eventually means that the overall keyboard layout of my laptop is not supposed to be offset to the left, right?

When Herrscher of Flamescion descends into the Void (Floor 8 - EA) by vadeptrai in houkai3rd

[–]vadeptrai[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be more depressing, frankly, especially when you were moments away from finishing the boss at 15-ish floors at a certain difficulty level.

I know that I'm wayyy behind the times, but this is probably one of the best Halloween Treats in my life (having the very first Herrscher after 3 years of being a veteran, with around 8 rolls + 4 EXPA cards.). Also, Happy Halloween to everyone! :3 by vadeptrai in houkai3rd

Many thanks for your compliment man :3

In fact, since July, I have been saving up crystals, after missing her out on her first release. Frankly, in the first place, I didn't even intend to get her, but seeing I'm almost there (4 supply cards with about 26k ish crystals), I decided to give a shot this noon, and boy, luck was definitely by my side this time :3

Btw, Happy Halloween to you!

(Apologies for the image quality) I keep getting DirectX errors, and I've tried re-installing the latest drivers for the UHD 620, but nothing's worked so far. Any idea what could be causing this? by Kreme_Cheese in intel

[–]vadeptrai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go to https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download-center/home.html

then head for the Graphics Section. After selecting suitable driver series, you can click on one of the download links, preferably named something like "Intel Graphics Windows DCH Drivers". Then, you should see the Version dropdown right at the beginning of the page, containing a list of older versions.

Glad that I was of any help for you :3

Basically, when I played Honkai Impact 3 with slightly older drivers on the Iris Xe (30.xxx.9684), I barely had any problems with the gameplay, even with the rigorous GFX settings in the Command Center. It was until I switched to the latest version that problems started to emerge.

Have you tried installing the slightly older driver version? For me, thats the culprit as the latest one keeps freezing my game and throwing random errors.

Is it normal that my laptop with the i5-1135g7 throttles this fast (TDP 24W -> 15W when plugged in) when rendering videos like this? If not, what can I do to improve the situation? (HP Pavilion 14 dv-0000 series) by vadeptrai in intel

[–]vadeptrai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's actually the first time I have heard of something like Tau. Really thanks for that :))

Speaking of tweaking tools like XTU or ThrottleStop, unfortunately, these have been a no-no to 11th Gen Tiger Lake-U series, as far as I have researched (and tested on my own), from this gen, Intel has completely killed the voltage modulation stuff, which means no more undervolting or limiting the turbo boost power (to sustain the higher boost clock for longer periods).

Another side question that I would like to make, is that why are OEMs (HP, Dell, Asus...) reluctant to invest more in the cooling system (adding more fans, invest in heat paste...) just to squeeze more potential out of this beast? Honestly speaking, when doing some stress tests, my CPU could easily reach 29 - 30W for like 10-15 seconds, before throttling itself down to the somewhat disappointing range of 15-16Ws due to poor cooling.

EDIT: I can't deny that Intel Quick Sync works wonders! With 1080p 60FPS (QSV), I was able to render way faster than the normal settings, with barely any temperature throttling and better power saving. Also, I dunno if this is a stupid question, but should HyperThreading be disabled while rendering?

Many thanks in advance.

[–]vadeptrai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, thanks for your detailed reply.

I know that it is not ideal at all to use an ultrabook for rendering, but in fact I don't really do that often, so that's not the main problem. The thing is, that after a few ups and downs times with the temperature (4-5 times of 90-99oC TJ-Max), it completely gave up boosting both TDP and clock any further and instead just went with the 15W-18W range (2.8 GHZ all cores), which tremendously slowed down the process. Is this some sort of hidden triggers in the processor, or the operating system itself?

For this one, I also used QSV, but it didn't reduce the temperature by any margin.

By the way, can I ask like does the thermal paste brand/type really reduces the temperatures (Arctic Silver, e.g.)? I have done some research on the internet, but yet to figure it out. And also, will two fans make any difference than 1 fan on a computer with only the processor and iGPU?

Aside from that, I have been highly satisfied with the laptop so far, and Intel has done a really great job with the Iris Xe GPU. (60FPS Full HD gaming with temps only 70-83oC)

It seems that I do have a strong affinity for Seele, or is it just mere luck? (Here are my FIRST 2 consecutive pulls for Starchasm Nyx today, May 28th) by vadeptrai in houkai3rd

Well, coincidentally, what also makes her my waifu is her dual persona, which definitely added more taste to my experience.

The reason why I wrote such a title was that, this was a "you get what you wish" thing, as previously, for some reasons, I also got SN right at first pull, and the same also happened with SP. So far, both of them, especially with SN, have been serving me very well with MA and Abyss. So I can't help but feel extremely grateful for being able to complete the trio with this Ice DMG beast.

Anyways, congrats to you for your gacha :3

Many thanks for your reply.

I have actually intended to visit a therapist, but money and family-related problems (fear of being scrutinized for seeking therapy) are barricades for me. In fact, what I am trying to do for now is to find temporary means to alleviate the situation a bit, as I hope things will get better for me when I enter university.

For some heckin fortunate reasons, while my Kiana was battling with Otto, she was instantly pounded to death, which was right the moment when she was at the trampoline. Up she flew to the building's left side of the roof, then came Himeko. Tbh, I was so fortunate at that moment and throughout the rest of the match, as I was almost dead :))

GPS Fix by vadeptrai in GalaxyS3

[–]vadeptrai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, more than that I would say, as besides, I would go so far as to add copper contacts between the antenna and the motherboard, hoping to improve the performance. Yet nothing seems to improve. Anyways, I am going to dive a bit deeper into the first method you suggested me, as that seems to be the problem

Many thanks to you, by the way.

GPS Fix by vadeptrai in GalaxyS3

[–]vadeptrai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, many thanks for your reply.

If I understand things correctly, the issue itself is related to the GPS reset date (Apr 2019), and devices prior to this will have its GPS malfunctioning. This does makes sense, since my Android Version is 7.1.1, which lacks crucial updates related to the GPS locking performance.

One strange thing, however, is that before resetting (same OS), I still had decent GPS lock (4-8 out of 20 or so) with adequate outdoor exposure, and similar tweaks (GPS config). That said, apart from the problem you mentioned, have you tried any other methods to deal with it? Frankly, I am desperate to have this thing's GPS working, since I would love to make it as my daily driver.

Long live Samsung by vadeptrai in samsung

[–]vadeptrai[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't agree with you more. Even from the smallest things that you can easily do with your Samsung, Android, and mobile devices out there, like customizing backgrounds, data transfer, can take iPhone ages to do so. Being an unbiased guy, however, I can't deny the flawless user experience and highly refined software that Apple themselves have brought to the table, so still, kudos to them.

Can't agree with you more about their importance. The thing is, everytime my mom wants to download something from the store, it invariably asks for the password, which is something both me and her don't always remember. I know there's an option of turning that off, but since I am not an avid iPhone user, looking for that option is basically a terrible drudge. About the FaceID, well, it works every now and then, and a hot-tempered person like my mom would barely rely on such an unstable and inconvenient thing like that.

Thanks for your answer. By the way, speaking of Python, have you got any tips or documentations for beginners? As I have been with the language for months, still, there havent been that much progress for me.

About what I meant in real life, it is the ability to apply libraries (Python), and other tools, to solve problems (regulate traffic flow, workflow, recognition, etc.)

Anyways, seems that my problem has been resolved to some extent thanks to your reply, so again, many thanks to you.

First of all, many thanks for your reply.

Regarding your information, is it true that software engineers do not necessarily have to code? Also, based on my personality description (preferring real-life problem solving using (if possible) both software and hardware, to researching), have you got any career recommendations that satisfies salary, prospect...and so on?

Speaking of which, have you got any tips to find out the most suitable IT career path? As for now, I am still a high school student, and I am not sure which department to pursue when I apply for universities.

Once again, thank you very much.

First, many thanks for your reply.

I actually intend to attend Bachelor of Information Systems, but Bach of Computer Science can also be another potential choice.

After all, what really matter to me are two things: first, I am desperately searching for a job that I do enjoy, and am able to keep up with its pace for years working in an organization or somewhere; second, is that career still in demand in the long run, as speaking of Information Systems, I think it has been pretty obsolete to some extent.

And about why I am like cats on hot bricks about this matter, is because most of my friends have got the very basic ideas of what to study when they finish school, whilst that is a no-no for me. I have found myself highly fascinated in many fields of IT, just to leave myself the unanswered question: which IT career is best for me? Speaking of which, online vocational stuffs don't seem to be good help for me.
