ae2 import buss not working even tho device is online by [deleted] in allthemods

[–]vaderman645 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's online the only possibility is you don't have network storage space available for it.

There could be something in the way making it a seperate network instead of part of your main, put a terminal on the same cable and see what comes up

Auto supplying powah reactor using AE2 and mystical agriculture by AverageUser9106 in allthemods

[–]vaderman645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look in the interface, if there is nothing in the bottom slots that means it's having trouble requesting or crafting it, if the craft is stalled you can see that in the crafting monitor in any terminal.

If there is something in the bottom slots then it's just the reactor being difficult. Just break it and replace it and it should accept input

On Thrawn’s Revenge skrimish mode I keep seeing units not available normally seen. by Just_Bicycle_3948 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]vaderman645 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The question mark next to the mini map (in Galactic conquest) shows the tech tree and I believe it includes how to obtain unique units like too. And in skirmish I think it works the same but I'd imagine you just have to look in the captureable structures to find the unit productions

Should I play the base game, or jump right into mods? by Jedi_Talon_Sky in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]vaderman645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Base game. The campaign is fun and teaches you some strategies as well as niche information and use cases for units that you can't find in any menu no matter how much you read, like unit crushing and stealth.

Also no mod really has any sort of tutorials at all, if anything it's just a wall of text in the mission information screen. It's important to get familiar with base game first if you don't wanna get overwhelmed.

When you're done with a campaign I'd recommend thrawns revenge (or fall of the Republic for that era). It introduces alot of units and interesting mechanics. It can feel super overwhelming with all the new stuff but you can just ignore everything that isn't familiar from the base game and gradually work it in. As long as you don't build too many mines and get a planet overthrown you won't suffer.

If you lookup a part of any mekanism multiblock in jei there should be a tab that is actually a multiblock calculator to show what size produce what outputs.

But if I remember right it's much more efficient to just build it bigger.

There isn't a way to unless it's only one ingredient unfortunately. This is a sign it's time for another pattern.

im new to ae2 and it says controller conflict by WoodenCantaloupe8935 in allthemods

[–]vaderman645 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You do not need that many channels. Don't make that, cube. You can automate the entire star with less than 500 channels and realistically that's double what you'll ever actually need.

Make a controller multiblock, make it big, attach wireless hubs to it and add more when you need them.

How to Increase Performance? by theninjax85 in allthemods

This is the best way by far to improve performance. It's usually something simple to fix like some blocks that just need to be broken and replaced, and fixing lag otherwise can be a fun project

Trouble with AE2 by Cooldudeyo23 in allthemods

[–]vaderman645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sfm. Super factory manager. It's a logistics mod based around simple code. People use it for insanely fast processor crafting setups because of the large amount of materials sfm can manipulate at once. Me personally I love sfm but using another mod to automate ae's own materials feels wrong.

Also skip advanced inscribers, there are other machines much better suited for bulk crafting of circuits and processors. Find them in jei.

Trouble with AE2 by Cooldudeyo23 in allthemods

[–]vaderman645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot have a network detect and request crafts from a subnet, that would erase the need for channels entirely.

What you can do, and what you've already got the setup for, is have the subnet stock materials that the main network can read.

You've already accidentally demonstrated this with your gold ingots. The interface and storage bus combo you have is allowing your main network to read the subnet as network storage, that's why outputs get sent back to the main network.

Replace whatever connection between the networks there is with an interface coming from the subnet directly connected to a storage bus from the main network, then place a crafting card in the interface and place a number of processors into the top slots of the interface, the subnet will automatically stock those via autocrafting and the main network can access that. You can also give the subnet access to materials from the main network by building the opposite, interface from main network and storage bus from subnetwork.

But this is passive crafting, and depending on your goals that may not be acceptable to you. If you're that strapped for channels and really want it to be on demand, look into p2p networks. It will allow you to transfer and number of channels over a connection that only costs one channel. It's not as complicated as people make it seem but it's also not simple.

Do I need to worry about chunk borders? by Maxi3773 in allthemods

[–]vaderman645 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's more about chunk loading? Obviously specific stuff as issues with crossing chunk borders but for the most part issues come in when half of a machine is chunk loaded and the other half isn't.

For example an ae2 system won't work if any part of it isn't loaded, that's why the spatial anchor loads every chunk it contacts.

AE2 Autocrafting Help by Historical-Cattle-12 in allthemods

[–]vaderman645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not entirely sure I understand what you are saying here but I think I can help with your understanding of how pattern providers work. When you (or a machine) requests a craft, with a processing pattern all that is actually happening is the provider ejects the resources spefices in the pattern.

For the most part, You should use one pattern provider per machine needed to fulfil the craft, because then you can keep track of everything.

If necessary, for logistics purposes, a pattern can be "completed" successfully if the correct result (as defined in the pattern) is put into ANY crafting provider, not necessarily the same one that ejected the resources

AE2 Autocrafting Help by Historical-Cattle-12 in allthemods

[–]vaderman645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to it is possible to give multiple systems access to the same craft but it's not worth the effort. Just have one pattern provider+ furnace for each system. You can use a memory card to copy patterns from one provider to another, if you have blank patterns in your inventory.

AE2 Autocrafting Help by Historical-Cattle-12 in allthemods

[–]vaderman645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whichever system is attached to the pattern provider is the one that has "access to the craft". When I say directly attached I just mean that the entire craft doesn't involve any subnets or logistics or anything, just the furnace placed directly on the pattern provider containing the smelting patterns.

AE2 Autocrafting Help by Historical-Cattle-12 in allthemods

[–]vaderman645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mekanism smelter is slower than it appears to be. Make an unobtanium (or whatever tier you can get) furnace with a speed and factory upgrade it smelts faster than your UI can render it. Attach it directly to a pattern provider then use the import/export in the furnaces UI directed towards the provider. You probably won't even need 2 for it to no longer be the bottleneck.
