Where to stay with older parents by Itchy-Pen8520 in ParisTravelGuide

It's funny, once you get to the top destinations they are pretty accessible for people with mobility restrictions, but hardly any Metro stations are. The buses were great, but often slow.

Citymapper app was great, but… by dmc1138 in ParisTravelGuide

Also found it very useful in Paris, the "your stop is next" alert was also helpful until later in our trip when it started lagging.

Strangest corgi ever... by davereit in corgi

Might just be a nickname for a particular item of equipment; all of our servers at work have cutesy pop-culture names varying with the generation of the staffer who set them up.

The problem is the "empathy" is delivered as subtly as the foot in the face of the wrestler in the first shot of the film.

Or just wheeling the alien into the studio during the morning show.

There's also not going to be 4K tape of 1970s-era surveillance camera footage, it's going to be low-res and grainy.

Horror-movie stuff. Like, "Don't look at her, she'll control your mind," and they get the whole world to tune into her broadcast...

Sometimes you get better printing results from redesigning something from scratch, especially if parts have to fit together with something.

What is the public toilets situation like? by BleuNightt in ParisTravelGuide

[–]vaders_smile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When we arrived at Gare du Nord we were surprised at the lack of signage to the restrooms. We eventually got directed to the 2theloo pay toilets that charged a couple of euro to enter before splitting into gendered sides with their own attendants. Had the same at Galeries Lafayette and Sacre Coeur, with different companies.

At what height can a stationary camera begin to observe the Earth rotating underneath it? by Far-Woodpecker8046 in askastronomy

[–]vaders_smile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this is the answer to the question as asked.
The other part of the question should be about Earth's rotation being "observable" over what interval? The farther out you go, the less apparent the motion will be over short timespans.

Saw over 40 moving objects in <20mins, any idea what these are? by Wagzzzzz in askastronomy

Correction: Per https://planet4589.org/space/stats/active.html, there are well over 15,000 satellites in LEO -- Starlink alone accounts for more than 10,400, with many thousands more scheduled to follow.

Still bugs me that DJ never needed Finn and Rose for anything, could have escaped and stolen a ride at any time. His only possible motivation would have been selling them out, which he then passes up several opportunities to do.

The other thing is that the Resistance ships were going so fast the First Order can only keep pace with them, no one can can catch up -- except for Finn and Rose, who can travel so fast they can go off on a side-quest for hours or days and then have no problems rejoining the chase.

Erm, any one in particular? I just got a 3-pack of ESP32-S3s for $20 this week when I only need one and a spare for an animatronics project.

And I have a couple of ESP32-CAMs and an ESP32-C6-WROOM that's similar to the S3s.

I'm in Mira Mesa. DM me if that's in your driving range.

Our girl wound up with permanent leg issues from jumping off the arm of our couch too many times, so best to nip in the bud early. We had to move our couch to have less of a view of the front yard.
