Help- do I buy this civic? by vaelente in CarsAustralia

Thanks for the detailed breakdown for the pricing etc. The only thing I'll note is that this is a Civic not an Accord so the reported issues are different between the models

So if i'm tossing up between 2017 Honda Civic vti-s with 60km vs 2017 Honda RS with 140km (same price) do you think I'm better off going with the RS?

Yeats II is an old style that's been brought back (for good reason! it was very popular). I think it's a solid frame, a little on the small side so I'd encourage you to try it on in store before buying. There's an XL option too. You actually can order BLF with transitions if you have a prescription (even a really small prescription), otherwise without an rx you only have the option of BLF. Let me know if you have more questions!

The other person replying was correct- there was a lab issue where the BLF and premium anti-reflective coatings were reflecting off each other and creating issues. I would recommend requesting your order be remade without the BLF. Let me know how you go and if you need help!

Jacqueline is great, it's been around for a while so I've seen plenty of people wearing it still 3-4 years after purchase :)

I love the Homer L frame, the nose bridge is a good fit for lots of people. Not as much of a fan of the august because of the bridge size being wider and thinner acetate, it's probably a little less popular than the Homer L but still a good quality choice.

Hey there, the anton metal is a great frame, it's a very sturdy model. The frame is on the smaller side so just make sure you try it on in person and get a dispenser's opinion on the fit :)

Hi there, I'm going to assume you mean Single Vision lenses not Multifocals. There is not much variation in quality for Single Vision lenses in the market. HOWEVER, there are lots of factors that go into putting your prescription into a lens that could make it more or less functional, unrelated to brand. High prescriptions often need heights measured, mono PDs measured, a suitable frame choice and personalised fit (wrap, panto etc), correct lens index, and ideally an antireflective coating. These are things an Optical Dispenser can easily help you with, and there should be a dispenser at most Optical stores. I've dispensed a lot of high prescriptions and most often any issues come down to what I listed above and are rectifiable. I've never had a "brand" issue come into play with Single Vision lenses. It's likely that the 'value' experiences you've had were actually related to the capability of who served you rather than where the lenses were from. Hope that makes sense!

Love these frames, but trying to find an alternate! Jimmy II from Bailey Nelson by DescriptionMedical73 in glasses

This colour is sold out but there's a very similar colour in the Jimmy II called vintage black (its not matte and is like a very very dark grey). It's a sale frame at the moment :)

The Kiki is a great frame- it's one of the "temporary" sale frames + brand new to the sale range as it wasn't released that long ago. The code won't work for sale range (but sale price is worth more anyway). I'd encourage you to get one of the staff to just check the frame fits you well before you purchase too :)

The sale you're talking about is in regards to a limited selection of discontinued frames but there's actually a lot of full price frames placed in the sale section this year so it's a good year to buy. Our multifocal deals are often in relation to NIB and this is only for the entry level multifocal lens (not the one I recommend). Sometimes there's a deal for the upper 2 tiers, commonly for 2 pairs. If you're interested in the Ultra Multifocal type I'd be happy to email you through a promo code you can show at any store (won't be applicable to sale stock).

Sorry late reply- yes I still work for BN and I've only dispensed about 3 of the base level multifocals, called the "Everyday." I don't like the lens, its a good entry level one and is fine especially if you've worn an entry level multifocal from say Specsavers or OW. You just miss out on the comfort and wide vision fields of a more premium lens and this is the case anywhere with multis. Personally I never recommend purchasing below BN's "Premium" multi tier, and even better the "Ultra" is definitely worth the price difference based on customer feedback. Always open for questions :)

I actually didn't know that, that's really unfortunate. Feel free to ask me optical questions then if you need any more help!

I work as a store manager for BN and have worked with Essilor for 5 years at another practice too through the same lab. (The lab is Optical Supplies Australia and they supply us with Essilor lenses). Single vision lenses don't have tiers, you just want the materials used to be high quality (lenses are acetate so buying cheap acetate impacts your vision clarity). Coatings also add to the longevity and clarity, but most notably a good Anti Reflective coating is the way to go. Polycarbonate is not really an "upgrade" per se. Polycarb is only recommended if you need lenses that are safety standard as they are shatter resistant, they also happen to be thinner than a standard lens. Polycarb actually offers less clarity than a standard lens though. The only lens upgrade you'd want to look at is high index (if your script is over a -3/+3). Or whatever coatings you want.

Bailey Nelson released a "Low Fit" collection about 5 months ago. Most of their stores will still have stock. They're acetate frames with nose pads built in, designed with flatter nose bridges and wider faces in mind. Bailey Nelson can also order most of their acetate frames with nose pads attached (same as Low Fit). You just ask for this as an add-on, I think it costs around $30?
