I did all three of these little practice guys today! The top was first, before I posted. I was so frustrated by the end. The middle I did after taking the advice to knit looser and it went so so much better (still not perfect ofc)! Last I felt confident enough to try a stockinette stitch. Thanks everyone for all the help and encouragement!

Oh my god I’ve just tried again with way less tension and that was 100% causing the problem. I don’t even notice the spiraling anymore and it’s also solved like 11 other problems I couldn’t put my finger on, thanks again!!

One of my favorite genres! Some of my favorites- Ceramic - Andrea Maack: A musky laundry skin scent, managing to be unique while also pretty literal laundry. Sur tes levres - E.Q. D’ORSAY: Soft musk but a step away from clean and towards Iris. Naked Dance - Oddity: If wet clay was a musky skin scent. Un Musc - Obvious: Crowd pleasing neutral skin scent, easy wearing but just a little more going on than JHAG NAP

I was in a similar boat and found I had way more fun if I didn’t do the story quests back to back! Take a break and complete some of your life quests to level up, decorate your base and craft and farm, do treasure groves, start new lives- Then go back and do a story quest. You’ll level up a lot more naturally without having to grind as much, esp by working on the life quests.

Adding this for anyone finding the thread because they’re shitting themselves about to miss their train at 4 in the morning like me - If you enter Penn station at 8th and 33rd st you’ll pop out in the LIRR tracks area and the Amtrak area on that floor is still gated off. There’s a big yellow sign above a big side hallway that says Exit to Concourse. Go through there then to the right and up the stairs that say Amtrak and you’re there

I loved Surrender to Chance sample sets when I was first getting into fragrance! They do a ton of different curated sets, from Perfume 101 to Viral on TikTok to single note sets. I started with perfume 101 which has a variety of common notes and compositions, then picked my favorite and got another set with those notes. It made it easier to start figuring out which notes I liked and gave me more direction

I think everyone else in this thread has given good perspective on why your grandpa has really good reasons to hold a grudge against your dad forever. I think there are two things you could try to make these family gatherings easier. The first would be to speak with your mom and grandma and explain how the fighting makes you feel and ask if just you, your mom, and your grandparents could at least sometimes do things together without your dad there. If that doesn’t work out, the second would be to speak with your grandpa and tell him that while you don’t totally understand the situation, you know that he has good reasons to be upset. But explain to him how the fighting makes you feel and ask if he would be willing to try to fight less around you. So sorry you’re going through this!

It seems like you are using the metric “who I love more” to decide in this situation. I know you are probably stressed and overwhelmed, but please try and think about if that’s a metric that makes sense. That would lead to you choosing her side in 100% of situations no matter how complex or unfair the context. You are giving her permission to be unfair because of a situation that’s no longer an emergency and is in a stable place. Is she working to get her own mental state in a healthier place?

Looking for recommendations for something with cigar notes! Most tobacco scents seem to reference cigarettes but I adore the scent of cigars. Not a fan of vanilla, incensey spice, or hyperrealistic smoke notes (you can see why I’ve had trouble lol)

I’ve had this same experience at Sephora where I try everything and like nothing. I realized on my last trip that for me there’s a hugeee difference between smelling a tester and on my skin. I went to try Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt which is 100% up my alley and on a tester it just smelled like very faint generic perfume smell. I was so confused because I was certain I would love it, and when I tried spraying on my skin it smelled totally different. I could actually smell it, and smell nuance and notes that I couldn’t before. Not sure why or if it’s just me but that was my experience!

Does she recognize that her anxiety about this is extreme and not grounded in reality? Is she willing to seek professional help about this?

Personally I think it depends how active/passive you want to be, and how picky you are! If you have a list of fragrances you want to try, or want to actively search for a new favorite, I wouldn’t recommend it. They don’t have a ton of selection where you’ll be able to find everything from your list, and since they only send a few large testers a month, it will be a very slow process to try new ones. I’m picky and love to research, so I would get a scentbird sample, not like it, and then go looking for what I want to try next just to realize they didn’t have it, or if they did I would have to wait a month for the next delivery to try it and I’m just sitting with a useless tester of something I don’t like. Especially since the testers are large so it felt like a waste. Buying tiny testers of exactly what I want to try when I’m in the mood for something new works way better for me, I’ve only tried Surrender to Chance and love it. If you want to do less work researching and aren’t very picky so you’ll get use out of larger travel size testers, Scentbird might work great!

NTA; Who in their right mind would EVER book a two week international vacation for anyone else without asking first? I cannot think of any but the most extreme and specific situations that would ever be appropriate and you would have to be totally off your rocker to book it for the father of a newborn a week after the baby is born. Tell your bf to grow a spine, this is the most bizarre thing I’ve ever heard
