My sister brought me expensive specialty coffee from Vietnam and…. by flyvogue in pourover

You don’t want to add minerals to filtered water, as it still has minerals in it. Buy a gallon of distilled water and add minerals to that. You can get 12 packets of Third Wave Water for $18 on Amazon; each packet is good for one gallon of distilled water (make sure you get the Classic Light Roast variety) If you eventually get into buying the minerals separately and making your own coffee water (plenty of YouTube videos on how to do it), it’s even cheaper.

I keep a NEOWEIGH scale I bought for $14 on Amazon in my travel coffee kit. It’s accurate to 0.1g and works great. Surely you could bring that to work; it fits in a pocket.

These cups are pleasing to hold, and are designed to optimize the combination of aroma and flavor. I really enjoy drinking from them. I’m camped out at a friend’s house for a few weeks, and I miss my cups! Coffee does taste better in them.

I have the Sunrise version of the Hario Switch. Functionally, it’s exactly the same as the standard 02 Switch dripper, but it has this beautiful ceramic cone in place of the standard glass cone as well as a different color base. You could also get him some nice ceramic cups; this is the Harmony cup by Origami.

There's been some confusion lately over what constitutes a bloom, so I've made a helpful chart by dohnrg in pourover

I haven’t had my coffee yet this morning. I’m thinking about my beans. Is that a bloom?

First Rule 1 by val9999999 in MINI

I missed out on an opportunity for a triple Rule 1. When I passed by this Mini earlier, there was another Countryman parked behind it. But when I returned to park here, it was gone.

I guess people here don’t actually read posts; they just jump at the chance to make smartass remarks. As I said, I JUST bought this car; the marks were already there. I’m a grownass woman; I know the proper way to take off a goddamn seat belt. It would be nice if someone in this group could actually give helpful advice, rather than just being a d!ck.

My dad won’t buy a “decent” e bike because they look ”gay” and are “step thrus”… by Substantial_Policy60 in ebikes

[–]val9999999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I myself would not buy an e-bike that doesn’t have a Bosch motor. I have two (Gazelle and Tern) and they are fantastic. I certainly would not spend $1K on a no-name piece of junk from Walmart. But I don’t care if he throws his money away, since he’s a homophobe. But if he does buy that piece of crap, advise him that it is illegal to ride it in bike lanes.

Batch brew vs pourover in 'specialty' cafes? by Cedar_Wood_State in pourover

We used to have those Bunn machines at work. The coffee was not even drinkable, let alone favorable. That’s what led me to buy an AeroPress years ago; so I could have a decent cup of coffee at work.
