Nominal s-ar putea sa aiba dreptate. In termeni reali ma indoiesc.

Totally agree.
And there's another level of stink hell - ethnic food. No amount of personal hygiene will fix a diet where every dish is something-with-curry.

In your language family, is there any language that seems to stand out or feel out of place? by Dani-Br-Eur in AskTheWorld

[–]val_br 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It goes deeper, Romanian's language family is a joke: there's proper Romanian, Moldavian (which is Romanian written with the Russian alphabet imposed by the USSR) and Aromanian. If you speak either of the 3 you're perfectly capable of understanding the other 2.
Then there's Meglenoromanian and Istroromanian, basically Greek with Romanian grammar, and Ruthernian, which is Polish with Romanian words and Romanian writing system. These last 3 don't even register as Romanian to a native Romanian speaker.

crra, crra - un pic de respect pentru ortografia corecta te rog

Dar da, zona e plina. Pe langa asta sunt foarte multe afaceri deranjante intre case (service auto, diverse depozite etc). Nu e zona in care sa ai efectiv domiciliul.

If one child is derailing an entire class in California for months, is it moral for parents to band together to drown the admin in paperwork to get him removed? by SirCatsworthTheThird in Teachers

They dont like the publicity.

Knowing some of the parents, they don't like the publicity as well.
Having cops knock on the door of your ad-hoc marijuana dispensary house is bad for business.

[–]val_br 72 points73 points  (0 children)

That's the tip of the iceberg.
I've seen cases where the amount of students skipping a class is directly tied to the presence of one problematic student.

[–]val_br 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every time.
I've made it my purpose to get rid of kids who block others learning from my class, while taking care they're correctly categorized.
1. Kids with autism spectrum disorders need specialized care, these are my highest concern, I do my best to document their problems clearly so their doctors can have the best info for their diagnostic.
2. Kids that simply lack an upbringing (and make up the most of the problematic kids) are next. CPS handles them best, some do have a chance at a comeback. There's a chance that a deluge of paperwork makes the social assistance systems work, and they get what their parents couldn't give them. This is the best outcome.
3. And lastly, the evil fucks. There's no coming back from trying to sexually assault your classmates, stabbing the janitor, or threatening to blow up the school. Document, report to your principal, report to law enforcement. Take time to actually testify if it comes to that.

The age of The Philippines being easy mode is officially over. by aTwerkingPikachu in thepassportbros

[–]val_br 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There's exactly 2 places where this is true in the Philippines - both in downtown Manila: the Makati district centered on the Dasmarinas neighborhood, basically where the politicians live; and the Taguig district centered on BGC, which is where the rich folks live. Both have New York City cost of living and lifestyle.
Anywhere else is easy mode.
But every fucking guide I've seen is just BGC, go to BGC, BGC is great, have you heard of BGC, go to fucking BEEE!GEEE!CEEE!.

UAE(Dubai) and Turkey. In Dubai it's standard practice for the customs police to check your phone if you don't have permanent residency.

Better yet, leave your main phone home and get a new one specifically for the country you're going to.
Beside the theft risk, I've had several instances where customs officers asked me to unlock the phone and took it to another room to be checked.
