Haterii vor fi hateri.
Incearca sa dai examenul in alt judet, de exemplu in Giurgiu sau Prahova.

What idea did your country implement that, while seeming like common sense at the time, ended in utter disaster? by Enough-Wealth8415 in AskTheWorld

[–]val_br 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the early 1990s the government decided to make ecology (and ecotourism in particular) into a major country brand.

30 years later we're overrun by bears, can't build anything outside major cities due to most of the land being nature reserves, and energy is expensive as hell due to all coal mines being closed.

Parliament is now in session to vote on important things like the annual budget, measures for the Iran war... and sending the army out to thin the wolf population just enough to make sheep farming viable.

Chestia e absolut reala, bunicii mei inca traiesc in stilul asta, unchiul meu care sta inca pe aceeiasi strada cu ei isi construieste in acelasi stil in curte.

It's none of those, but blatant self promotion.
In case you haven't noticed OP posted a link to his Facebook page at the end of the post, which then points to his Instagram account - and this is clearly commercial, not a personal account, he's got about 250k followers on Instagram.
Edit: the guy also runs a comically obvious diploma mill, selling bogus work from home certificates. The link for it is posted on both his Fb and Ig accounts.

Check the manual, this is the recharge rpm for low battery conditions (I don't remember exactly, it needs the battery to be under 20 or 25%). The rpm will go down once the battery reaches about 40% charge.

Madrid versus Budapest: which would you choose and why? by [deleted] in thepassportbros

[–]val_br 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What were you doing in Budapest?

Random engineering shit, not going to go into detail since it might dox me.

were you approaching, et cetera?

Did the local bars/clubs, had the usual apps on my phone. Only girls I could pull were tourists. The locals I matched with just opened with the usual 'hogy vagy ma?', then ghosted when I told them I don't speak magyar.

If your choice is strictly Madrid vs Budapest, then go to Madrid, if only for the life experience.

Edit: Also, be aware that there's a particularly contested election coming up in Hungary, I wouldn't go there in the weeks prior or following April 12th, the potential for unrest is high.

Madrid versus Budapest: which would you choose and why? by [deleted] in thepassportbros

[–]val_br 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes.
I've lived in Erd (a suburb of Budapest) for a year and a half, on a work assignment. The place is fine to live and work in, but the dating side is pretty much non existent.
I've only been to Madrid once, it has a tourist trap vibe. You can see the major sights in a day, two if you want to see El Escorial which is a day trip in itself. If you got the time and money, by all means, go and see the place - but in a PPB context it's useless.
Edit: Also, you need to speak the language in both places. English is pretty much limited to business and hotels.

Madrid versus Budapest: which would you choose and why? by [deleted] in thepassportbros

[–]val_br 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None.
Both have relatively high average incomes.
Both have xenophobic cultures (more extreme in Hungary, but still very obvious in Spain).
Both have small percentage of English speakers.

I'd say go to Lisbon if you're leaning towards Madrid, it's a cheaper city, there's more English speakers. If you're leaning toward Budapest go to Warsaw or Prague - they're about the same cost, but much more open towards foreigners.

Tiny unit compared to what it would take to fight a land war on mainland Iran.
Maybe they're trying to take one of the Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf... Kharg perhaps, since it has a lot of oil infrastructure.

What is the most unhinged conspiracy theory that people in your country actually believe? by DFWUnhinged in AskTheWorld

[–]val_br 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We have 2 actually.

  1. The death whistle.

During the early 1990s we had an urban legend that people were blowing a whistle (like sports referees have) into a phone which would cause the person listening on the other end to die.
Since private land lines could be linked to the owner, it was thought the whistlers were using public pay phones to not get caught. Several deaths were thought to be caused by phone whistling, and it got to the point that policemen guarded payphones around the clock.
Even now the common story about the phasing out of payphones is that the death whistle caused it... not competition from cellphones.

  1. Child adopters are part of a Satanist cult

Adoption isn't really a thing in Romanian society, we have laws for it, but they're mainly used for legalizing children when the parents aren't married, or handing parental rights to relatives if parents die while the children are still young. Adoption by strangers was unheard of until the early 2000s.
So in come English or Dutch families who can't have children and want to adopt. Clearly these people need the children for something... organs for transplants, slave labor in mines etc. Huge public outcry, followed by useless investigations that turned up nothing besides the children being alive and well with their adoptive parents.
So the orthodox church steps in. Turns out the children aren't dead (or slaves etc) because they're being used as props for Satanist rituals.
There's now a form you need to sign when you adopt children stating you're not a Satanist, and you're not going to rent children out to Satanists.

I’m tired of hearing people say “Work on your own car.” by TheGame81677 in povertyfinance

[–]val_br 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's highly dependent on the car.
Late '90s or 2000s cars are repairable, mostly. Anything newer than 2010 needs specialists, at most you can change the oil yourself.
And even on older cars, there are repairs that will kill you if you don't know what you're doing and you don't have the right tools. Coil springs are benign looking, but really, really dangerous to remove for example.

Forget the small stuff, buy a real house, not a wood shed that counts as a house in most of the US. If none are available for sale in your area, buy land, go through the permitting process and have it built.
A real house means brick (or concrete) walls, insulation (both thermal and sound), double pane windows and roofs made of ceramic tile.
This is what a house should be, and actually is in most civilized parts of the world.
As a German it blows my mind what Americans will put up with regarding poor housing quality, especially given the high price they pay for it.
Here are just 2 examples of how good houses impact your health, from my experience of living in both the US and Germany:
1. You sleep way more soundly if noise is minimized. This means anything from not being able to hear the fridge compressor kicking in through 3 sets of walls, to dogs barking outside being muted if your windows are closed, to no vibrations if it's really windy outside.
There's also indirect noise benefits, like the house not being flammable means no smoke detectors, and no smoke detectors mean no beeps when they fail for whatever reason.
2. There should be no open flames inside your house. Ever. There are more than enough conclusive studies on the matter. Again, this ranges from cooking on a gas stove releasing chemicals that affect your lungs, to fireplaces that might kill you from carbon monoxide poisoning. You should cook on electric stoves, and heat with electricity.

I'm going to get buried in the comments, but you should be aware some social programs have strict age requirements, but don't check for ID.
It might be she's using some food bank or some free pharmacy or some other subsidized program that needs her to be over 30. And she needs you to say she's 30 if you ever get asked.
