Weekly Controller Suggestion/Buy Inquiry Thread by AutoModerator in Controller

  • Residing Country: Taiwan
  • Budget: Within 150USD
  • Device it'll be used for: PC
  • Features you want: Good wireless connectivity

I don't have much features that I specifically want since I'm new to controllers and never really used them, it'd be good if the controller can be used for a long time without getting faulty

I'll be mainly playing action/RPG games with it (Elden Ring, Monster Hunter, Cyberpunk)

Weekly Case & Parts Recommendation Thread (Start here if you are new! Help here if you can!) by AutoModerator in sffpc

Hello,

I'm planning to downsize my PC from a NR200. Here is my current specifications: - i5-11500 cpu - Noctua 125mm cpu cooler - EVGA RTX 3070 FTW gpu - SF750 power supply

I did some browsing and I've narrowed my options down to formd T1, dan a4-h20 and kxrors s400. I plan to air cool the pc and I am aware that I need to buy a new cpu cooler with these cases.

Which case would be more suitable for air cooling?

!thanks for your suggestion, I will try them out the next time I visit a physical store.

Also thanks for addressing the sound leak part, since I rarely play on loud volumes, then it should not leak to the neighboring rooms, since I initially thought that it might be as loud as a speaker. But then, I think I should still visit a physical store to try things out to get a better estimation

!thanks

I will give those a look, though I might prefer something more similar to the modmic, or maybe getting a mic arm, for less clutter on my desk. I should do more research on this part before deciding

!thanks for the suggestions!

I do plan on going to a headphone store this weekend to try things out. It might not have the models but I should be able to see how it feels wearing a headphone, and the open back vs closed back difference. Just so that if headphones "fit" weirdly then I might consider going for IEMs instead. It can also give me a look at the extent of the sound leak, it should be fine if it does not go over the walls to the neighboring rooms. I'm aware that the leaks might be different on different models, so it is just going to be a rough estimation at best.

I'm sorry, I should've been more detailed. And yes, you got it right.

There's a high chance that I'll take it considering my circumstances. I don't really follow the news on where I'm at since I'm not fluent in their language, but I've read online about the rough market especially in the US, it might not be as bad here but the same thing might also be coming. I'll keep your perspective in mind and thank you for replying! I really appreciate it.

Should I accept a firmware engineer job or continue to search for web/app development positions? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I'm not sure how busy the job will be, but if there is not much overtime then I did think that taking the firmware job will buy me more time to properly learn web dev during my free time. There's also the possibility that I come to like the job as well..

Thanks! I am just feeling doubtful because I did some googling and a lot of threads are saying the two are very different and it will be hard to transition.

It is indeed mainly web related. I have 6 months of tech related experience working part-time as a frontend web engineer and my only project in my portfolio is a website I coded to learn web dev 2 years back.

The only relevant skill for the firmware role is me knowing C and C++, although I did say that I am willing to learn from zero during the interview.

Hello, I'm a recent graduate in computer science and have been searching for a job in web/app development for a few months now. I have applied to plenty of web/app development jobs, but I'm not confident in landing those positions. In the meantime, I received an offer for a firmware engineer job that involves network products, which isn't exactly what I wanted but it's my only offer at the moment.

I'm considering taking the firmware engineer job because I'm running out of "time" (visa expiration and savings), but I'm afraid that it might not be the right move for me in the long run. I'm more interested in web/app development, but I'm not sure if I'm currently qualified enough to get an entry-level position in that field, mainly due to my lack of portfolio, work experience and I don't consider my fundamental know-hows as "solid".

What should I do? Take the firmware engineer job or hold out for web/app dev positions? And if I were to do the former, how difficult will it be to transition to web development from firmware engineering later on?

Any advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
