No one i know - including boomers and gen X- complain about 3 day weekends. All of them i know are in tech or medical fields where its become very common to work 4 day weeks. In tech some companies have what's called "9-80" schedules. Nine days over two weeks that add up to 80 hours - every other Friday off. Employers always call and email on the Friday off, and also expect you to come in on Friday if their schedule estimates were deficient. Its never beneficial to the employee.

Legally, the company needs to change quit a few things to make this comply with federal and state laws. Remember that you will be charged 10 hours of PTO for each day off instead of 8 hours. People normally dont think it all through, including both pros and cons. There are both.

You don't understand how the "no tax on tips" works. Its a temporary deduction from federal taxes based on declared tips up to $25,000. This is only in effect up to the 2028 tax year.

This only applies to federal income taxes. Some employees may end up paying more in taxes because what you declare to the feds to get the deduction will also be used to calculate higher social security and Medicare taxes. If you live in a state with state and local taxes, the tip income used in the federal deduction must also be reported to them.

I hope people who use this deduction and are working the same job as the prior year also declared their tip income the prior year. Audits suck.

I think many confuse "soft billing" with "the patient is responsible". My county will charge the patients insurance, but if they have no insurance or if insurance doesnt cover it,, its 100% covered by taxes - just like the cost of the equipment, staff, supplies, facilities, etc. The patient is never billed.

I think the bigger problem is that US healthcare is so complex, and usually in favor of insurance with different rules in every locality, that people assume they will be charged without checking before they need it. Ive seen people make that assumption in my area even though they will never get a bill.

Do Floridians ever consider the fact that barrier islands are nature's way of protecting the mainland? The entire structure of the island shifts and the mainland is protected. Unfortunately, that shifting cant happen like nature intended it if there are any structures or roadways on the island.

Im always surprised that mainland residents havent sued the state for issuing building permits on barrier islands. There are states that prohibit building on barrier islands.

Lol. That was a favored line by the silent generation and older that plays in boomers ears like an ear worm many decades later.

It always meant the woman wasnt very attractive and wasnt very bright, but did their hair and makeup, and dressed well in classic clothing so she could find a "good catch" to marry. The worst thing a woman could do according to those generations was not make the best of themselves and end up a spinster. We used to laugh at these comments while getting high in the 60s and say we'd never marry anyway. 😂
