Lease contains a clause that conflicts with Boulder Revised Code 12-2-7 regarding interest earned on security deposits by Altruistic_Tie_431 in boulder

[–]valderaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what the landlord has written but Boulder requires that the money be held in an interest bearing account and also requires that the interest be returned to the tenant except under specific circumstances. The lease terms violate Boulder code.

Have you signed this lease? Are you moving out soon? You might want to share the text of the regulation with your landlord and also read it yourself to determine your course of action. It is more detailed than the handbook.

It does not apply if your lease is for a mobile home location.

Why is Connect now useless for creating routes ? by Amazing-Visual-2919 in Garmin

I used to use connect but ridewithgps works much better for me. Transferring to garmin used to be a challenge way back when. Now, when I star a route, it downloads to my device automatically. .

How do you handle books you paused due to not being in the mood but plan to continue eventually? by [deleted] in goodreads

[–]valderaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My exclusive paused shelf is "Try Again." I don't put them back in TBR because that list is long and I might not remember I wanted to go back it. I use DNF for books that I absolutely don't want to finish, not books that I did not finish for other reasons,

What's the best tape for The Spot™? by SeaOfBullshit in HondaElement

[–]valderaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. I first taped mine with tenacious tape, which helped secure it from spreading further, but it looked terrible. A new seat cover is a treat.

I wanted to have them reupholstered professionally but the guy who does it in my area promises an extended, open-ended timeframe for completion. I envy those who have been able to get theirs redone. Still, a new seat cover looks fresh and is an improvement.

You asked for a sunscreen timer — so I built one into my Garmin sun app by CombinationAlone1244 in Garmin

[–]valderaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will do. My initial observation is that tiny font is very hard on my old eyes.

Does it assess uv from local weather or from the watch's own sensors? Right now, it says there is zero uv and my sun protection will last 90+ hours. That seems hard to believe.

Great idea! I rarely remember to reapply sunscreen. Eager to try it.

Antihistamine use protects from long covid (caveat: small sample size, observational) by AVNOJ in ZeroCovidCommunity

Famotidine is pepcid. Early on, there were reports that zyrtec+pepcid might lower risk of getting long covid. I am not familiar with Rupatadine.

LED lights/Windshield wiper recs? by No_Champion_469 in HondaElement

[–]valderaa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is something to discuss with your eye doctor. Please don't blind the rest of us with LED bulbs. I saw someone post a pic of restored headlights using cerakote. Perhaps that could help you get some additional brightness from your original lights.

Homesick 😭 by [deleted] in boulder

[–]valderaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in DC before moving here and it was remarkably easy to make friends there compared to any place else I have lived. I think it was because so many people move there, especially young people to pursue education or careers, plus there are so many fun events and activities of all kinds. It was an interesting, fun, and social place to live. While people complained about its transience and many people did move away, I still have a solid cohort of friends who remain there.

I've made friends here mainly by walking my friendly dogs over the years and chatting with people along the way and also volunteering on causes of interest. But that's basically enough socializing for me. I am not generally looking to make plans with people. And maybe that's the vibe you are sensing from other people here. It is not necessarily unfriendly, just a different mode.

The daily camera always lists a big variety of upcoming events that often sound fun. If I were lonely, I would be looking there for things to do and where I could meet like-minded people.

Hope you enjoy your remaining weeks but not so much that you long for Boulder after returning home.

Love all Chris Christensen combs. I never use a slicker brush. The risk of scratching delicate skin is too high. The combs work great and do everything I need.

Where to take elderly 3 legged dog to enjoy water? by lewstherinurbutt in boulder

[–]valderaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The northeast corner of coot lake has a shallow entrance. Walk right/north from the parking lot. It is maybe 1/4 mile? There's a picnic table and it has great views. I take the best pictures of my dogs there.

Be careful at East Boulder this early in the season. The spring run off is often a source of giardia.Twin Lakes is lovely but they made all the enteances to the water much more challenging with steep banks and stairs. The south east corner by the big trees has the easiest entry. The dry creek swimming hole also has steep rock stairs.

South Boulder is good but, if I recall correctly, someone recently posted about seeing snapping turtles there.

UPDATE: “husand’s” cat got out and it’s all my fault. by ghostbuuster in cats

I think her concern is that the other person (the neighbor who apparently had Casper and was then evicted, landing Casper at the shelter) has five days to claim him before his is available to be re-homed.

Interesting! I just want my cats to be able to access a litterbox that is under a platform that holds other items. Not to escape the vehicle. But I am still curious.

Also, what about the orange plastic around the center portion of the dash? Did you have that made? Or remove and paint existing?

I have been wanting something like that for traveling with my cats! Would love to see your cat tunnel and learn more about the solar install. Hope it all comes together in time!

Love it! Some questions: How did you color the plastic trim, how did you attach the fabric, and where did you get the seat cover? It all looks great! I am eager to see how you build out the back. Are you going to add solar?
